Coyotes attendance improves for second preseason game Phoenix Business Journal - by Mike Sunnucks The Phoenix Coyotes saw an improvement in attendance Friday night for their second preseason game. There were more than 3,000 fans at Jobing.com Arena for the Coyotes' National Hockey League game against the Anaheim Ducks. That's an improvement from the 1,000 fans that were at Tuesday's night's preseason opener. The Coyotes announced attendance at just under 6,200, but arena personnel and others at Friday's game said it was more likely between 3,000 and 3,500 fans actually were at the game. Jobing.com Arena seats 17,800. Team officials hope to sell out the Oct. 10 home opener. The Coyotes are in Chapter 11 bankruptcy and U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Redfield T. Baum is deciding whether the NHL can buy the team, keep them in Glendale and find a new owner, or let Canadian businessman Jim Balsillie buy the team and move it to Hamilton, Ontario. The Coyotes lost to Anaheim 4-3 in overtime after dominating most the game in the preseason tilt. Coyotes coach Wayne Gretzky was not at Friday night's game. Gretzky is part owner of the Coyotes and has stayed away from training camp and preseason games while the bankruptcy reorganization plays out. d.yimg.com/a/p/sp/getty/8a/fullj.d0b5424ea45fe23f957299ff56d17be4/d0b5424ea45fe23f957299ff56d17be4-getty-89598598cp003_anaheim_ducks.jpgd.yimg.com/a/p/ap/20090919/capt.91d6a61f50bc4136a4e832435caaedb4.ducks_coyotes_hockey_pnj106.jpgd.yimg.com/a/p/sp/getty/79/fullj.978daf34584a69ae20943261a29ede6c/978daf34584a69ae20943261a29ede6c-getty-89598598cp006_anaheim_ducks.jpgd.yimg.com/a/p/sp/getty/31/fullj.0cb8ad110c93e0a5a81fc6d065782b20/0cb8ad110c93e0a5a81fc6d065782b20-getty-89598598cp005_anaheim_ducks.jpgd.yimg.com/a/p/sp/getty/49/fullj.b0d433c1cabce400476c20962109c428/b0d433c1cabce400476c20962109c428-getty-89598598cp007_anaheim_ducks.jpgd.yimg.com/a/p/sp/getty/13/fullj.bf32c617e997037d8c36df8117075720/bf32c617e997037d8c36df8117075720-getty-89598598cp008_anaheim_ducks.jpg

I checked a while ago, some empty seats scattered among the first 5 or 6 rows near the ice, but the rest is nearly EMPTY. I haven't seen the upper bowl yet, nor behind the camera, but judging by what I saw, there must be around 5000-7000 people maximum there, and I am generous here, even if it's against a conference team. Imagine if it was against the Isles O.o
EDIT: saw a bit more just below the camera, even more empty seats, 4000-6000 then
EDIT: Darn, Quebec Remparts (Q) and Capitales (indy baseball) early season games are louder than that.

Saw the attendance figure on ESPN and it was 6,899, but who knows if it's even that high.
