I just can't believe that the people of Arizona will agree to a tax for hockey. This all makes no sense from the City's point of view. Cut your losses and focus on the venue that you have and finding alternative sports/teams/acts to fill it.
I often wondered why would anyone make a bid for this team to stay in Phoenix? If the concessions actually came to light Reinsdorf would get an extra 23M in concessions, he can cut some additional costs (see Gretzky) and he has absolutely no risk as the City would pay him for his losses. He then could move the team and potentially sell it for much more than he paid. Not to mention he is only assuming debt apparently. Sounds like a great deal, sign me up.

Judge Baum has opened up the auction to all bidders, including people wishing to relocate. tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=286860This is Winnipeg's chance. Get in there with a bid between Reinsdorf and Balsillie. Gives the judge an easy out, as he would have a bid that satisfies more creditors than Reinsdorf's, but without overruling the NHL's rejection of Ballsillie and Hamilton and setting precedent for all sports leagues by selling to them.

This is exactly the type of opportunity Winnipeg needs, BUT I have a feeling the sky is the limit for Balsillie and his bid. It really sucks, because if he wasn't around and it was down to just Reinsdorf, I think TN could put in a pretty good bid. Who knows, Bettman did say that if the team moves, that it should move to Winnipeg

But must all bidders be pre aproved by the NHL ?? What good would Balsillie's bid be when the NHL has already denied his application as an owner. Plus as far as I'm concerned if there is no bid from Winnipeg in the $180m range which I believe was the original threshold for our group. Then there will need to be so explaining to do I think. And if they don't they had better have a news conference explaining why and that team "x" has already been aquired.

Ok i think this is do or die time. One would have to believe that is there was a ownership (with deeeeeep pockets as mr ford would say) the nhl would be knocking hard at the door to get winnipeg to place a bid. even if it wasnt as big as jims i am sure they could convince the judge that the winnipeg bid is a wiser choice. one of the reason the nhl hates jim is because he wants to move the team to 70 km outside of toronto and not far from a already dying buffalo team. maple leafs have already said they would sue if such a move took place. ITS TIME!!!!!!!!!! the only reason there isnt a winnipeg bid would be that the ownership group doesnt exist or is not serious. this would be pretty bad to the campaign if there is no bid.

Exactly guys. Winnipeg needs to step up right now and present themselves as the compromise solution and lodge a bid.
It's a compromise between Jim's megabucks for the creditors and Reinsdorf's zilch for the creditors. A compromise between leaving the team in Phoenix where it will be a drain on the other franchises, and moving it to Ontario where it will cost the league big bucks in future expansion revenues. It would also be a compromise for Bettman between his alleged "I hate Canada' stance and the mindless drones on Make It Seven who really think that this about Canada vs. USA.
I truly believe that moving the Coyotes home to Winnipeg would be the best possible solution to get the NHL out of this financial and PR nightmare. Now we just need our ownership group to step up and make this an alternative for the league and Judge Baum to consider.
