Uh oh tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=284726According to several sources, a Winnipeg Blue Bombers scout was caught spying on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats practice on Tuesday. Ron Trentini had his notes confiscated and was escorted from Ivor Wynne Stadium. The Ticats also revoked his credentials for Saturday's game between the two teams. Trentini was reportedly recognized by Ticat scout Danny McManus. "It's totally unethical," said Ticats general manager Bob O'Billovich, according to the Scratching Post with Drew Edwards. "It blows my mind that the guy would be dumb enough to walk into our stadium and take notes and think he wouldn't be recognized." According to the Winnipeg Free Press, Trentini had worked with the Bombers in Toronto this spring to help them prepare for the Canadian Draft. "Maybe this used to go on a long time ago when a guy might try and watch practice with binoculars from a building across or something," said O'Billovich. "But to just walk in and just start taking notes? That's pretty dumb." The league has been informed. Back in September of 2007, the New England Patriots were disciplined by the NFL for videotaping the signals of the New York Jets' defensive coaches during a game. An investigation was launched and the league fined Patriots coach Bill Belichick $500,000, docked the Patriots $250,000, and took away the team's scheduled first-round selection in the 2008 NFL Draft. Files from the Winnipeg Free Press were used in this report.

What's really dumb is the CFL has no actual rule on not to do this kinda of stuff, the guy really didnt break a rule, you would figure after Don Mathews team was caught stealing other teams signals on video during games, the CFL would have come up with a one.And it sounds like from now on teams will be fined if they get caught doing this, but they have no plan on putting a rule in place,so I'm confused about that.
And what I'm really wondering is if this guy was working for the Bombers when he did this?I hear he has worked for the team before in the Toronto area, but nobody is saying he was working for the team now.

Hmmm well the Bombers say its not their fault and Mike Kelly was quite.... lets say stern on that. tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=284776I'm thinking the orginization didnt put him up to it I mean if we were going to go and do something this risky why would we do it against of all teams Hamilton?

It was just a guy trying to impress the boss by going above and beyond of what was expected from him, NOT knowing ofcourse how everyone would react when they found out! Obviously, just someone who didn't know any better.

if you guys think that the the Bombers are the only team to do this, then your fooling yourselves. EVERY team and i mean EVERY team in football does it. the Bomber spy just got caught.

Obviously the Big Blue were not trying to cheat, I mean really why would you spy on a team that has gone 6-30 in the last two years.

I think he was just a moron, if the bombers did send him, I highly doubt they would tell him to walk in and have seat, and enjoy some hot dogs...

This is a non-issue, it was handled internally, and we should not be talking about it!!

But we want to talk about it, and we are all free to do so. If you don't want to speak about it find a different thread! Pretty simple.
I think this was a major breach, and the bombers looked bad for it, and they shouldn't as they had no idea.

It would seem that you missed Mike Kelly's response to the media when he was asked about it...

Well I just think that if people want to make comments on it they are free to do so without someone saying they can't ... that is the point I am making... I don't have anything further to say about this crap, just that if someone does, they can... that is ALL I WAS SAYING!

That was a week 3 topic, and we lost to the team we were scouting.
It's now week 4 in the CFL. No need to talk about it, so...next topic please.

Oh My! i have been watching the Bombers play since the mid 70's and this team right now,...... the defence. deadly, intimidating and effective. special teams.unsure kicking game. MUCH BETTER than last year. ;D the "offence" has to be the weakest i have EVER SEEN. the day you see all 3 QB's in the game BEFORE the 4th and you just know they are toast. LeFors is done. he has to be. make it official ( by RTOTJ standars anyways) that the Winnipeg Football Club is actively seeking a competant QB. If they aren't, then say goodbye to Mr. Bauer and "we barely knew ya" Mike Kelly. PATHETIC!!!!

I agree...this is the weakest I've ever seen. Reinbold years were close but at least Stegall caught the ball from whoever the Bombers put in the revolving door QB position.
I still think Mike Kelly getting rid of Dinwiddie was a big mistake. For those who thought he didn't have a strong enough arm...well at least he had a heart, more than half a brain and some instinct that told him you have to throw the ball down field once in a while.
