Just a case of the slow start unfortunately. The big 27 yard conversion when we had em on the 2, then not getting any points late in the 1st half somewhat haunted us. Still think we showed good signs, notably in our running game, and if bishop and the receivers can get on the same page we will be good. Its just weird as our receivers used to be a big strength of our team but now have shown to be the weakness (combined with our QB of course). Romby and TE just dont have the space they used to with Milt and DA taking others attention. Oh well, it is rebuilding and we will get better. At least I covered the spread: welfarewednesdays.com/2009/08/06/week-6-cfl-picks/I get to go to the Montreal and Winnipeg game next week back in the peg, I'm so excited it's been a while!!!

Coach Kelly is right...........we take this all waaaay to seriously. The Blue are in transition........they will get better, and I like how the new coach carries himself with this team. The Bomber's have been in transition for year's. I just think Winnipeger's are sick of mediocrity year after year and excuses.

Well that was a pretty embarrassing performance tonight. CJOB was pretty hard on Bishop but I don't really blame him at all for tonight. The biggest problem I see is the receiving corps. They don't have a deep threat. Bishop needs to have a deep threat receiver to open up his options. God knows he's got the arm to throw bombs all night long. Edwards and Bouman are ok, but not real deep threats. Ralph hasn't impressed... I'm not sure what happened with Bryant...he just looks like he couldn't care less if he loses his job tomorrow, which just might happen.

Man i had no prob with getting the new QB from ED,but I thought they should have kept Smith, now the new guy is gone Gyles or whatever his name was.
Funny if we beat BC this week,we will have the same record as them, and are record is still better then last year so far, even though we are rebuilding,so why are ppl complaining lol...nobody that i recall said Kelly was the savior, well except the ppl in the media.

As I've been saying for the last few days on the message boards, I predicted this team to be 0-18 this season. So the fact that they are 2-5 is a pleasant surprise.
At this rate, it looks like the Bombers season will end the same time the NFL regular season starts, lol. My Sunday sports select ritual is just around the corner, ;D.

Hope everyone watched the game last night. Fred Reid was incredible - 260 yards - a bomber record! The bombers made the Lions look silly last night. This game gives me some hope for the season.
Things to take away from it: - Fred Reid is easily the best RB in the CFL. We're sitting on a gold mine with him. - When our offence actually gets some play time, our rested defence is very good. - Michael Bishop is capable of being a good QB, when he wants to be. He played error-free last night. - Serna is good - much better boot on him than westwood. Although I miss Westwood's antics. - Fred Reid is very very good. Did I mention Fred Reid?
Maybe this season won't be a complete bust. After all, in the CFL all you have to do is make the playoffs, then anything can happen.

Yes, I agree with your analysis Bromine. Defence played awesome...makes a huge difference with Shabazz is in there. The receivers made a few clutch catches for a change too...Bishop needs that to keep his confidence up.

It was just one game. A very entertaining game also though. BC has the worst run defence in the league, and our OLine opened up the holes for Reid AND Bernard. Don't forget Bernard. He had over 100 yards rushing himself.
Does anybody still think we should have kept Joe Smith?
Bishop had an error free night sure, but he still only went 11 for 20 and 131 yards passing, hardly decent numbers. What would happen if our run game was shutdown? Oh yeah, didn't that happen last weak in Montreal?
The next two games against the Sheepriders will be a true measure of how we are as a team. Cause I'm still not sold that the Bombers are any good.

If the run game is shut down they're in big trouble. I don't say that because of Bishop (although he does have a long history of making really bone-headed passes). I say it because they have very mediocre, actually I'd say below average receiving group...or could be the passing schemes are the problem (i.e. coaching).

Yes it was a fun game to watch on Fri.
All i know is this team was 1 flag away from having the 2nd most wins in the CFL,and 1 goalpost away from having the least win's,with all the crap fans keep throwing at them,I'd say thats pretty good. The teams in the league are all pretty equal in records, and every team is having or have had struggles this year.If you look around, the fans from all teams are trying to figure out whats wrong with there teams, well except Montreal.

According to CJOB, Westwood will be punting in the next game.

Well I think it's a good move.Westwood knows how to punt in the stadium more then Serna.Helps Serna out by only having to worry about placekicking. And Troy knows the score,he's here for 3 games and maybe some postseason action. And like him or hate him,he desrves to end his carrer in the Peg on a better note then what happened under Berry's watch.
