For years now I've been viewing the attempts by people on Youtube presenting the "Winnipeg Jets / Manitoba Moose Goal Horn". All of them are either another NHL's team goal horn OR a train in the middle of a field being recorded by someone's camera! Now here is the OFFICIAL Horn! Video takin' from inside the MTS Centre. Enjoy, ** All those classic goals that were scored followed by the bellow of our Goal Horn & I get to use it! **

I have always wondered about the obstructed view from the press box (with roof beams being below).
Is it as bad/annoying as it appears?

I have always wondered about the obstructed view from the press box (with roof beams being below). Is it as bad/annoying as it appears? Not bad really! The video just kinda captured a worse look than what it actually is: SEE BELOW: The Broadcast booth has a nice clear shot but, i'm sure when the NHL makes the call, MTS Centre will add a second level to the press boxes just for the Broadcasters!

Adding a second level or additional boxes for broadcasters (when the NHL returns) is what I always thought made sense...but then the business about 12 sky suites came out "just below the press box"?
I have always thought that whatever could be done on the pressbox side, could also be done on the other...so maybe adding a second level to pressbox and skysuites on the other?
Any knowledge of this?

Could most certainly happen. There is no reason why they couldn't. The only thing they would have to figure out is plumbing & electrical which could most likely ( if it hasn't already been ) be planned out in a matter of hours!

Alex,
Those pics are great! It remains me of the first row upper deck of the old Barn. But I have to admit, it looks like the press box in the MTSC has a closer view of the game than my usual Jets upper deck seats. (Is that an illusion?) So those additional "sky boxes" much talked about on this forum, won't have that bad a view of The Show, when it comes back!
Also, if you have other pics inside or out of the MTSC, especially from vantage points that us regular fans don't get the chance to see, well posting them on the forum somewhere would be swell!!
All the Best! Chris

Check out this thread here, I didn't do the Skywalk ( just because of possible issues with safety ) Nor did I take pictures of the offices however; for personal issues, I won't be regardless. Everyone has their own space down there with pictures of family etc, so I'll leave that to discover someday on your own! Hope you find some interesting pictures in this pile however; returnofthejets.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=mtsc&action=display&thread=8152

12 sky suites would be placed under the beams on the opposite side of the press box.
So essentially you'd have a double tiered press box section on the east side and a row of sky suites on the west side, under the beams.
and that's only if it's deemed necessary.

Pretty cool... but isn't this horn different from the one used in Winnipeg Arena (and so not really the official Winnipeg Jets horn... well, not yet anyways ) I remember when they were getting ready to close the Old Barn, they mentioned that the goal horn could not be salvaged, and that people were so disappointed at the thought of losing it that they did their best to create a new model which is pretty close to what was used in the Jets days, but isn't exactly the same. Also, I'd love this in .mp3 version if possible

Umm, not sure where that came from? The only thing that is NOT original is the Horn Compressor! They old compressor was losing it's strength and for the start of the 08-'09 Moose season, the compressor was replaced increasing the length at which the horn could be used for & it's intensity. The actual Horn Cones were disassembled from the underside of the old "light bright" scoreboard, and installed in the new MTS Centre Scoreboard. The "flashlight" that is used for it was also in the old arena! Hope that clears that one up! The only other thing I really wish they would have brought over from the old Arena were the Banners & Portrait of the Queen!

where would thet put her though? that portrait is HUGE! I was thinking of somewhere in the building. ( Across from the Eaton Statue on the wall near the main Portage Entrance. ) If that didn't work, I'd just like to have it somewhere in Winnipeg! Not in some warehouse in Ontario!
