Anyone From trueviking of the Skyscrapper forum: "i sit 15 feet away from the project architect of the MTS centre for 8 hours every single day and i can tell you with absolute certainty that it was not designed to be expandable....that isnt to say that it could not be done with a huge expenditure of cash, but it seems unlikely to me.....the expandability was not built into the design, that is a fact." forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=160936&page=39

Wait a second....I sit just 14 FEET AWAY from the project architect of the MTSC for 8 1/2 HOURS a day....and I can tell you with absolute certainty that it was not designed to be expandable....
See how easy it is to make stuff up guys...DO NOT buy anything you hear from anybody. If it doesn't come from Chipman, Thomson or Darren's mouth, chances are it's just some loser with nothing better to do than start rumors OR make it seem as if they actually know something....

I am more looking for what they may be doing within the building. i.e: press box, new full ring of boxes.. etc etc.. not up and out..

Well Teney, I was not referring to anybody particular on this site. What I meant was; there are 1000's of people all over the world on different Message Boards/ Twitter Pages, etc... that just make crap up and KNOW it'll spread like wildfire because it just sounds too good.
Valued Members such as ( for Example ) Pegger5, only posted what he heard through what he believes is a very reliable source and he COULD be right! Who knows at this point.
However; it's up to you guys to choose what you believe is right or wrong and, this whole "i know a guy who built the MTS Centre" crap is phony...
I know for fact as I met with developers at PCL offices just this very morning. Something I know Darren was aware of beforehand.
I'm not saying now if I found out the MTS Centre could be expanded or not, but, Money can do anything in this world........

Maybe, but only as long as it's not a condition of the transfer (or awarding) of a franchise. We already know that the size of it is marginal at best. So what IF it's a firm condition of the NHL allowing a franchise to move here? Are you saying that the deal would be dead in that case because it would cost too much to expand the MTSC? Or are you going with the assumption that it's big enough and won't be an issue with the NHL? I just can't believe TNSE and city/prov would let that be the only thing to stand in the way. All hypothetical of course.

You are right, I am surrounded by Engineers and Architects in my family. Money can do anything especially if the roof was built to be raised. (not outward) see the four pillars of support... This would be expensive but they must think worth it from an ROI if they actually do it... It could benefit larger concert revenue as well.. I wish I was at that meeting... Nice hint by the way.. As for you Teney, I have never said MTS was going to be expanded, just that it will become more NHL ready ! pretty strong words to call someone a liar.. Burdon of Proof would be on you to claim that..

I don't post over there, but have browsed that forum, and truviking is a respectable dude in the know with regards to projects in the city, it seems. I'm not saying he's right or wrong, but just because he isn't on jetsowner (or is he?) doesn't mean he has less credibility than those who post their own "I heard/I know" stories on this forum. He's a supporter/believer also, if memory serves me correct.

I know... Why didn't they think of that in the first place? Its actually a good thing that our arena is only 15,015. Its mentioned by some degree by Darren. Think of how hard its going to be to get tickets. Its not like Montreal or Chicago, where 21,000+ will be available. Remember when the Goldeyes built the new park? Nobody could get tickets, it was the toughest ticket in town. Granted, some of them only cost $3 at the time, but nonetheless everything was sold out. Same principle applies here, because it will be such a tough ticket, its creating its own demand. I can't wait to see what the prices of tickets will look like on kijiji, especially opening night. For those of you who say 15,015 is too small, I can guarantee you that at least 12 of the 30 teams this season aren't even pulling that number as an average, so we'd fall right into the middle of the league in terms of attendance. Expansion is an unnecessary cost they do not need to incur until the time is right.

Question,I know adding a last row has been discussed to death. But has anyone ever measured or know how much space there is up there?
Personally if they could add a type of stand/raised up bar with fixed stools or chained up somehow (safety issues having chairs up top that are not fixed),they could charge a few extra bucks for those seats. If room was up there I would pay extra to be able to sit on a higher stool and lean up against something since im over 6'2.
And for those areas that are in between the concrete posts,I guess they would have to remove 2 or 3 seats from the current last row to have acess to them.So if the propsed last row could add 20 seats, you would have to remove say 3 seats from the current last row now to gain acess to the confined areas, giving you 17 plus seats in certain sections.
