RE: Trebendan Or maybe that number is the inflated number and 6000 was the real number. I watched the game no one was in the upper decks after the first period. It looked like 6000.

From Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: blogs.ajc.com/atlanta-thrashers-blog/2010/11/05/attendance-issue-at-philips-arena/Highlight: "One thing I can tell you is not to make the leap between poor attendance and the franchise moving at this point. I chased down yet another rumor (this one by a guy who writes about hockey lifestyle) that the Thrashers were being sold. I can tell from from two sources that it is not true. Think about it folks, even as the team looks for investors, what person(s) would buy and/or invest in a team still in litigation? Until that is resolved nothing will happen."

That is just pathetic... were there even 3000 people there? Let me show you how pathetic NHL attendance have gotten. Below here are some pics from a Canadian Junior Hockey game: Announced attendance there was 12933. Granted, this is a Saturday game, it is a 15000 seats rink so it looks more full than a 18000 seats arena and the left and right parts of the upper bowl were almost empty (I had a crappy seat where I couldn't even see the scoreboard/upper bowl and I didn't feel like going down during the game to take pics of it), but still, don't you see a HUGE difference compared to when Atlanta announces 13000? Also, for $56, you can get 4 tickets, 4 sodas and 4 hot dogs at Tampa Bay. At that junior game you have to be under 13 years old to get this much for $56. As adults, once you bought the tickets, all you get is ONE hot dog... I will try to go to a Remparts game vs a team nobody cares about on a day other than Friday or Saturday if I can, soon, hoping that game only draws 10K. I would like to compare pics of a 10K junior game vs a 10K Atlanta/Phoenix game at one point...

^That's at Colisee Pepsi right? Yeah, where the Nordiques used to play. There was also a IHL team there afterward but they went from 12000 fans a game to 8000 in their 2nd season and folded. I think Citadelles drew less than the Remparts, because everyone hated the Montreal; Canadiens. Who were they playing that night? I'm a Wildcats and Huskies fan here~ GO CATS GO~ They played Montreal. I wish they were in the same division, though, so they play more often...

Looking at those pictures; I can't see the NHL willingly wanting to go back to Quebec and play out of that building! Talk about reminders of the obstructed view seats from the Old Winnipeg Arena! I remember having to watch the little tiny TV's they had up there just to see what was on the scoreboard! Horrible..... I DO however love seeing real hockey towns like Quebec draw more at a non-NHL gamethen 1/3 of the current NHL franchises do. Always nice to see!

Well... what's worse in Quebec case is that the score isn't even shown on the TV screen. At least, at that game it wasn't. Also, my seat wasn't even part of the worst ones: if I sat 4 rows above, I wouldn't even be able to see the boards on the other side. Also, some seats you can barely even see the TV screen as well so it's annoying when fans keep going up/down during the game to get food, plus there are some seats hidden behind 4 pillars... Seeing how they let the Sens and Canes play in a 10K seats building when they joined the league, I wouldn't be surprised if they allowed the Nords to play 1-2 years in the old building if the new one is under construction, though. It would be better than playing 2 additional years in front of 5000 in Atlanta.

Even from where I sat (last row in the balcony right behind the net), I had trouble seeing the corner of the other zone since the scoreboard blocked it.... no such concerns this year at Consol.... ;D

They just pathetically rarely ever got more than 10,000 fans.

You could have a piller that supported the upper decks right infront of you. Or if you were up in the Upper decks and I mean upper decks you had the press box blocking part of the ice surface, and literally watched the game on TV screens. Lots of great memories there but my god was it antiquated. The main reason we lost the Jets.

All my Jets memories are from that damn upper deck! But then again I paid $10.00 at seven eleven for them so who was I to complain ! We still had a blast! It was the late eighties, early nineties and there was always this guy that used to mockingly yell out : RANDY .. SKATE RANDY .... as Randy Carlyle always struggled to skate back. I also remember a playoff game against the Oilers where I thought the whole upper deck was gong to collapse because it was flexing so much from the noise and stamping of feet. Awesome memories..

At the Colisée, when you go downstairs on the center parts of the upper bowl (the ones that obstructs about 6 rows of seats below), it's so steep that we almost get scared of falling down. Also, in the upper part of the lower bowl (where most obstructed view seats are) when everyone sits down you're pretty much stuck there because there isn't even any space to move. Good luck eating hot dogs there if you ever go there. I sure hope that if they build a new arena in Quebec that they'll do it right. I think if the Nordiques return while it's being built, they should get rid of the east/west part of the upper bowl or just close most of the stands below, because back when the Nordiques existed, they had to charge less money for those seats than they did for some upper bowl seats. Anyway, in Atlanta, since they often have games as empty as in the pic Jhendrix70 posted, I bet that when they'll actually have 8000 people at a game, they'll think it's a huge crowd XD.
