Well a friend of mine has a box at the MTS centre. A while ago I asked him if there was a clause regarding the NHL in his contract. Well I was at a dinner with him the other night and I asked again. It turns out that the last contract had no mention of the NHL in it. But the new one does. It states that should we get an NHL team during the length of said contract(5 years) said contract is void and a new one is to be negotiated. Just thought it was interesting and you guys might want to know.

I'll try and grab a contract while i'm down at the MTS Centre today and let you guys know what it states. This is very interesting......( I guess they are covering all their bases & If this is infact the case, with 50 People on the waiting list for a suite.....shows ONCE AGAIN, there is more than enough Corporate Support )

Doesn't CJOB have a luxury suite? Would've loved to see the look on their faces when they read that little clause.

It's a nice tidbit - frankly I'm eager for any news I can get my hands on. It's roughly the same as what my Moose sales rep told me with regard to my minipack. He confirmed that, should the NHL return to Winnipeg, season ticket and minipack holders would have first dibs on season tickets to the NHL. Now that was only verbal, and I haven't seen anything in writing, AND I made it clear that I was only buying the minipack to ensure my place in line for the NHL's return so it could have potentially been a sales tactic but I'm not going to be so cynical as to assume that's the case. I will now go and look up the definition of run-on sentence.
That said, next year I'll be pointing out to my sales rep that further renewals will be dependent on seeing SOME action on the NHL front. My patience wears thin....

It is there since by my estimates, a company pays about $65K a year for a box in the MTS. If the NHL comes, that price needs to be around $150K--$175K a year.
That will separate the men from the boys when it comes to corp. backing.

Well, it's nothing to get giddy about however; If there was nothing happening regarding bringing the NHL back, True North wouldn't even bother putting that in their clause SO: In a way, it does show once again that TN are in fact interested ( like we all didn't know that already ) and are preparing just incase! ;-)

Both would be very helpful in figuring out box revenue streams Chris

even better... a list of all companies and where their box is There are over 120 companies that have a box at the MTSC. I have seen up to 5 names on one suite. Some split 8 & 8 to every event, some split events. There is also a long list of companies waiting to get in. Some have been on the list for 3 years. Most press have have their own box.

Anyone remember how many boxes MEC was going to have in the new arena?
Just watched an "after 40 minute's"segment from 1995 on tape.
Maclean asked Scott Taylor "can Winnipeg afford ticket prices going from $22 to $38",Scott said something like"money's not the problem with tickets, because the boxes and club seats all have been sold out with down payments, the arena isnt even built, that's never been done in N.A. anywhere.the cheap seats are what's left"
So I was just thinking how many box/club seats they had.
I'll try and upload it later maybe.
