being #19 isn't a good sign for the city considering winnipeg doesn't get many events. It just shows MTS Centre is the only venue we have in this city. Yeah, you're right. We would be SO much better off if we were rated the worst venue...... Think before you write...

Yes! Bruce would be amazing...There was a listing that had himself, AC/DC and the Elton John / Billy Joel combo possibly coming this summer! I'm REALLY hoping Bruce makes it here!

Can you name any Candian cities outside of the big 3 that have multiple 6,000+ person concert venues? We have a couple of theatres that seat about 1,500 and one that seats around 3,500. Those fill the need for mid-sized shows quite adequately (although the Walker needs some serious renos). There's tons of bars and smaller music halls that can hold between 100-1,000 people, so those fill the need for smaller venues. That leaves us with big shows. We have an arena, what else do you need? Most American cities have huge aphitheatres nearby. Like 50,000 person venues. Toronto is the only city in Canada that has anything comperable. We don't have a need for a venue like that because bands don't do Canadian amphitheatre tours, which require a different setup than an arena show. If someone did want to do a big outdoor show near Winnipeg, there's the festival grounds at Birds Hill park that could handle 25,000ish, Winnipeg Stadium at about 40,000 for concerts and the rarely used 55,000 person amphitheatre outside of Grand Beach. I think we're doing ok for venues.
