Hi all, I'm just announcing as of today, I am stepping down as moderator. I've been fairly busy and pretty stressed out, not the least of which is due to the collapse of the Oilfield economy, and . reduced working hours, possible layoffs, etc. In short, I've just had too much on my mind. I'd like to personally thank Darren, Viv, and everyone who posts on a regular basis. I've been on this site for the last 4 years, and as a moderator since November 2007. I think it's just time to give one of the other regs a chance at modding. I'm still convinced more than ever that the Jets will return, and when they do, we should all go and celebrate. Until then, I thank everyone for contributing to the site, and their patience in waiting for the NHL to return to where it belongs - WINNIPEG! I'm in the same boat as you my friend... Looking for work on the rigs is a rarety these days... |

Looking for work on the rigs is a rarety these days... All I can suggest is to NOT come to Brooks to look for work. Aside from being known as a "dive" in southern Alberta, there are dozens of people leaving gor good, after being let go. In fact, the only work to be found is slaughtering pigs at Lakeside. I wouldn't recommend it. Anyway the only reason I'm here is the fact I love my job, but the real test will be what happens during spring break-up. I sure hope I keep my job, as it's the best job I've ever had. Otherwise, I'm heading to a real city....  |

he's one of the most long standing and loyal posters/contributors on these board, one that has added a lot of humour and good sense...
i've watched/read his posts for years, and exchanged a few PMs, and can't believe he's done anything wrong...
unbelievable...

I pretty shocked to hear that as well. Though I have noticed he hasn't contributed as much lately. Maybe he's just frustrated with the campaign these days. Who knows, I just hope it was justified for the sake of our new moderators integrity... |

Or was it just a difference of opinion?
Let me state, for the record, that he was a valued member of this forum, and I don't agree with your decision.

Please don't roll your eyes at me. I asked a question -- "for what?" and you did not anwer that question. If he was uttering threats, that's another thing entirely. If he was slandering your name, again, that's another thing; although if you tell someone that they might be out of line and at risk of it looking like an abuse of power, I would take that as constructive criticism, not slander. Insulting and vicious? I didn't see any of the PM's he exchanged with you, nor would I like to. Hence the reason I asked in the first place, "for what?" |

All I know is that if DBP is gone then something has gone seriously wrong here...and I suggest based on what I've seen around here in the last 5 years, it's not him.

I feel like I've banned him for the right reasons. I know you and some other few can't live without him that's why he'll be coming back on March 11th when I lift the ban. We have had a few heated debates over politics but like Hannu said politics is a different animal. As a mod I have put aside personal differences with others because we are all here for one common goal. If I did not believe this and I wanted to abuse my power I would of banned you and other "neo cons" along time ago but obviously and I'm sure you agree would be pretty irresponsible. |

this problem has been fixed guys and gals...sorry for the inconveniences. good news...viv, your moderating has been great btw, i.e., low impact/footprint...this forum is unique and doesn't get the traffic of other forums...it doesn't need to be over moderated in my view...it generally only requires deleting and banning obvious trolls/idiots like "jetsengine" that create 10 threads in a row that are completely nonsensical...at least that's my view...but then i'm a huge advocate of freedom of speech and opinion...as for rumours that could be legitimate or not, i think they have a place here if they are not obvious lies/fabrications...good to see DBP back... |

Precious little dbp is back. Hope you're all happy now. Didn't mean to give you guys heart attacks. Thought I banned him for the right reasons and I repeat there was no abuse of power on my part. If that's what you want to think then go ahead.
Since this is a dead forum like Wagner has stated maybe it was wrong to ban somebody like him since he is one of the 4-5 members who post here on a regular basis. But what has been done has been done. I look forward to posting and maybe some time regain confidence in the future. I won't be coming here as often anymore and probably won't post much either since I am relieved of my duties. Maybe more of a "once in a week" observer.
Also special thanks to Jzilla, Jiffy, Jhendrix. The triple J's for supporting me when I was a mod while others were being narrow minded and couldn't get past my personal political beliefs. I am glad I don't have to deal with these pc nazis anymore.
Jzilla I fully understand now what you meant this being a thankless job. It sure was. Thanks again!

No problemo dbp. I tried to be the best mod I could be and that's all that matters. I am glad this "horrible thud" has happened. No more stress.
I would also like to clarify what I meant by "pc nazis"
PC nazis are people who gang up on you because you have different opinions about personal political stances or something else and they will keep on attacking you for that, that's how I felt I've been treated. It has nothing to do with right wing people or "neo cons"

Trying anything to get me kicked off as mod. They went as far as saying I am editing people's post. That's why it all got blown out of proportion. If it wasn't for these crooks I would still be a mod today but they got their wish. I will be back here as an observer once in a while. Will likely not post anymore. Maybe sometime in the future. |

I stopped discussing politics with you because you turned them into name calling sessions and insults, and you even turned on Wavy the same way. That's fine with me; politics aren't why I'm here...although I can't promise to never discuss politics again. I'm easily goaded into it. Look, in the end, some of us just didn't agree with some of your moderating methods and decisions...I have no doubt that you were doing what you thought was right and hopefully we can move on respectfully. We do agree on some things too. No hard feelings here. |
