i've always thought there are certain franchises which need to fail if winnipeg is to get a team back...this is one of them...it's unfortunate and is not based on any negative view of the cities or franchises concerned...even if winnipeg is not first on the list for relocation (due to demand for and thus expense of a team), teams need to relocate to our competitor cities like houston, kansas city, and with each move a bidder and possible location is taken off the list...
it seems like the 'canes are now a favorite to win the cup, and could be a contending team for years to come...still they could only support a $26 average ticket this season

it will temporairily boost the Canes. I say this because next year they'll be a shaddow of what they are this year. They'll lose Weight, Recchi, Whitney, Brind'Amour, Hedican etc.
however, i don't worry about this scenario that much because Buffalo is a faster team than MTL and NJ and they have more than 1 scoring line. Carolina will meet their maker in this one.

It will save the Canes for at least one more season. The fact is that people are showing up to watch hockey, the question is, how much are they paying?

It'll mean nothing.
Besides, they're not going to win.

well it does look something like 2:1 odds canes take the cup now with canes up one game and more importantly roloson out...
...but there is still faint hope that the hated oilers will some how take the series...let's see what happens in game 2...

hmmmm, canes up 2-0
didn't like the goaltending in a 5 - 0 loss...still you can't win 0 - 0...
i was thinking, canes have been the luckiest team in the playoffs
first round, montreal winning then koivu gets injured
third round, buffalo loses most of its defense and ends up playing AHLs
finals, roloson is taken out in the first game
hopefully their luck will end now
canes odds jump to somethng like 3:1...

series is now 3-1
odds appear to 9:1 for 'canes to win
only positive i can see is looking to next season and seeing the Stanley Cup Champions playing before 12 to 13K crowds announced as 15K plus, and people realizing the futility of it all...perhaps wishful thinking

what a come back by the oilers...
they crushed the canes in games
question is how will the canes respond in game 7...
the home team wins in the 7th game something like 80 or 90% of the time
still, the odds must be about 50/50...either team could win at this point...should be a great game on monday

there is no stopping the oilers now. the canes are a beaten team. both physically and (more importantly ) mentally. game 7 should be a brutal beating.

I tend to agree with that, you can just see it on their faces. It will make me happy to watch Brindamour watching another team win ;D (although I wish it had been almost anyone else but the Oilers)

I dont need reasons to not like a player... he plays for Carolina, that alone makes me lose some respect for the integrity of players...

Gee, I noticed no posts after game 7. Looks like the smack train got a little derailed, huh? Wonder what happened.
