Which next-gen consoles are planning on getting your hands on sometime this year, or even early next year?
I'd like to get a 360 when they become a little less scarce, and a Revolution as soon as it comes out as well, I have a feeling Nintendo may be coming back strong with its new console...

I'm just fine w/ my current regular Xbox. Don't play it very often, but there's tons of games I'd like to have for it. The best part is, once I have to get back into video games, all those Xbox games I want right now will be dirt-cheap. As for the next system I buy? Well... I'll never forgive Nintendo for all of their ridiculous delays with the N64 (and then I STILL don't get an arcade port of the original Killer Instinct ), but I think I'd go with the Revolution. Not as powerful as the 360 or PS3, but who cares? When I buy a game console, I just buy it to do 1 thing: PLAY GAMES. The PS3 and 360 do about a million other things. That doesn't impress me. Plus you'll get to play all NES, SNES, N64, and GC games on it from what I hear. So right off the bat it has a bigger, and better library of games than the 360 and PS3.

For those of you that voted for the PS3... all I have to say is... why? What does the PS3 have that XBOX 360 does not?(Other than likely a much higher price tag) And dont bother with 'hardware' because games at this point are so advanced already that slightly better hardware wont make a difference. ps3.ign.com/articles/614/614783p1.html

I have been monitoring the Xbox 360 discussion boards over the past month and I get a sense the overall review is quite mixed. Many are pleased with the system and games while others are less impressed and are hopeful that future games will be better. For example: Madden 2006 for the 360 is apparently awful. I'm definitely going to wait until the PS3 comes out although nobody seems to have an idea when this will occur. I have seen articles stating Mar 06 while others don't think it will even appear this year. Once you have a chance to look both systems it will be possible to do a good analysis. I would never consider the Revolution as I always equated Nintendo with games tailored towards the 7-12 age group. Gordo

I'm saving my christmas gift cards for a 360, im gonna pitch the rest of the cash in slowly, but I'm also going to buy the Revolution the day it comes out. Everyone gives Nintendo a hard time, but there the only compnay that MADE MONEY during the last generation of consoles, and there are so many awesome games on the GameCube Pikmin 2, Windwaker, SSB, Metroid Prime, and Resident Evil, voted game of the year at ign.com (btw), so all you Nintendo haters can step off, how many console incarnations can there be if the creaters lose money every time.
gnight

I would never consider the Revolution as I always equated Nintendo with games tailored towards the 7-12 age group. Gordo Your loss then if you're going to overgeneralize them like that. You can't say you wont even look at it before it comes out. I can say I wont look at the PS3 because I want the XBOX for XBOX live and I like the games better, and Playstation is aimed maily to tweens/teens (Playstation is for 8-18 years old....mostly). PS3 will be similar to the XBOX so I dont need 'two of the same' since both are big horsepower machines. Nintendo willl be a completely different machine that will likely either be fantastic... or a flop. The first is more likely and it is a system (the first one ever) that is going to be targeted at EVERYBODY even including older people. If you like first person shooters, you will love the Revolution, and I assume you have not read about the controller. www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3143782Now read that and tell me you wont at least consider Nintendo

I myself want that XBox 360 but I'm going to wait till March, that's when I'll know more about the PS3 and if it's worth my time to wait for that console.
XBox 360 has my vote right now though.

I myself will do what i can to not support Bill Gates cut throat business attitude. Working at Pick A Flick, i have herd a few people say negative things bout the X Box 360, and i have herd a few people comment on the wonderful graphix...
One thing i find odd though Jade, is the "don't say hardware, cuz at this point they are so advanced it will make no difference" arguement. The vast majority of Xbox users, who strongly dislike PS2, have prided 99.9% of their arguement on the "faster loading times" (by a couple seconds on some games) and mildly improved graphix on some games (which i never noticed, and still havn't noticed). (this arguement also neglects the like 3 month waiting period for Grand Theft Auto - one of the greatest series of video games EVER made in my opinion). So why would hardware improvements now, mean so little, when X Box is at the disadvantage?
I am fond of Nintendo - and i love the fact that they don't pull any Bill Gats taticts. They sit there, create a wonderful product, and are so confident in it that they don't desperatley try to undercut the competition nor do they try and release it a year ahead of schedule to beat the competition only to have massive recalls and all kinds of bugs and errors and failures in the system, nor do they release differen't versions of the console some with hard drives and some without, and only send 1 full version to each store, causing comsumers to purchase all kinds of add-ons and such when they are stuck buying the incomplete version. They make a sold product, so solid that it speaks for itself - somthing Bill Gates is unfermiliar with. "why make a better product that the competition when you can remarkabley undercut them, and/or just buy them out?"
I also want to mention that the Blue Ray disc (or Blu rae or however you spell it) will have more memory than X box 360's disc's by about the size of current Xbox and PS2 games. Thats quite a remarkable advantage considering what we are capeable of producing on these DVDs.
Sony has been good to me, they have continued to produce a great quality product, with stellar games, wonderful preformance, and i have no doubt in my mind they will continue to do so. The playstation consoles have spoken for themselves. And in My Opinion, with all the extra time the X Box had to produce their System, it should have been far advanced than the PS2, and it wasn't. (its like that old TV show, Junk Yard Wars- imagine they gave the Red Team an extra 10 hours to build whatever it was, the Red Team would always win).
Pitbull, i am surprised you are such a Microsoft supporter, you are a smart guy and awesome with computers to say the least, if you had the money to open a software and/or hardware store, you could probably out do Bill Gates - assuming he didn't like buy you out, or suddenly start selling everything for $1.00 so people bought the inferior product just to say themselvs a few bucks until you went out of business.
but like I said, i am no longer a gamer - not my thing... Mario Cart and my SNES do the trick... MAYBE if a new Gran Turismo comes out, and gets amazing reviews, and i have some more money, i will consider buying a new system... but i HIGHLY doubt it.

Sorry Ian, but Xbox beats PS2 IMO.
Better graphics. Less load time. Higher quality dvd player. Better controller.
The 360 VS PS3 game war will be an interesting one though, that's for sure. Nintendo is the 'Wildcard'.
On a related note, I want to buy NHL Open Ice (the arcade machine)... you can play as the Winnipeg Jets in it! I think Kildonan Place still has it in their arcade. I tried getting one on eBay, but it was like $5,000. I may be a doctor and a lawyer, but that's just too much.

You mean a 360? Another note for Xbox is that another factory will begin production in February and there should be at least 4.5 million units produced between now and June which should help curb the shortage a little bit. As for "losing the controller" it is possible with any controller now as they are mostly wireless....and Nintendo will come with a shell so that you can also use it like a regular controller if you want as well.
