if the only way the NHL will come back to the 'peg is the support from the corporate community......
the senators in ottawa may not break even or show a profit due to loss of corporate support......
filling butts in the seats, sellouts everynight full of joe blows will not make the jets profitable.......u need corporate support...businesses..etc...

If corporate support was never a problem for the Winnipeg Jets from 1979 to 1996, WHY would it be a problem *now*?

If corporate support was never a problem for the Winnipeg Jets from 1979 to 1996, WHY would it be a problem *now*? Oh but corporate support WAS a problem. If there was enough corporate support the team would have never left... and a new arena would have been built in the mid 90s

Riiiiiight. That's exactly why the new arena wasn't built! Not enough corportate support for it! Even if that were true (it's not), how'd Winnipeg survive in the NHL from '79 till '96?

wasn't a problem then, won't be a problem now. We tend to think of Corporate Support being from companies like Canwest, MTS etc. We forget about all the "secondary levels" such as Safeway, McDonald's, Boyd Autobody, all the Car dealerships, transport companies, etc., etc.. There is tons of corporate $$ here. Let's not sell our city short. Time to think positive!

If corporate support was never a problem for the Winnipeg Jets from 1979 to 1996, WHY would it be a problem *now*? teams didn't have to manage $30 to $50 million dollar payrolls ...... also u didn't have salary disclosure.....so player like thomas steen didn't know how much wayne gretzky made in 1982....

If Calgary, Edmonton, Carolina, and Nashville don't have problems with corporate support, we sure as Heck won't.
Ever see a game at Canwest Global Park, Canadd Inns Stadium, or MTS Centre? TONS of corporate support.
It won't be a problem for the new Jets. In fact, I think most sponsors of the Moose would be delighted to support our new NHL team, regardless of cost.
