If you look at the history behind many of these countries that "support" terrorism and the hot beds like Iran and Saudi Arabia you'd see that the US government has been supporting facist regimes in these countries because they support US corporate interests and political interests with ZERO regard to their own citizens. Now that its biting the americans in the as$ how can you be surprised. I don't condone the terrorist attacks by any means but using violence as a way to deal with violence only causes more violence. Thats a very generalized statement. Can you be more specific with examples of what facist regimes you are talking about? I don't think Saudi Arabia is a terrorist hotbed since it's pretty rich from oil exports. Though Israel does make accusations that financial support for Hamas does come from Saudi Arabia. I agree that violence should be a last resort, but in the case of dealing with the Taliban in Afghanistan, what do you suggest would be a better tactic? I read an article on CBC's web page that there may be some communication soon, between the current Afghan government and the Taliban, which would be mediated by Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah. www.cbc.ca/world/story/2009/03/21/afghan-karzai-talks.html

Iran actually was not fascist before. They had a democratically elected president named Mohammad Mosaddaq (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohammad_Mossadegh) until the CIA intervened and kicked him out then putting in the SHAH of iran which was a dictator who listened to american interests. Then american people wonder why iran is so hostile? LOL

The middle finger is my salute to the naysayer. But I'll keep this one up on your recommendation for a bit.

Rebuilding a country takes time. But it's tough to help people who don't want to help themselves. As soon as NATO pulls out, it'll be right back to where it was ten years ago.

You can't fix that country, occupying it brings resentment and more hate. The Taliban have even more fodder to use when they preach to their children how evil the west is.
