How do they decide who drops the ceremonial faceoff? They could have one at every game and charge to be able to drop the puck. Depending on what you charge some companies would probably do it, and if it's cheap enough I bet there would be a handful of parents who would have their kids drop the puck for their birthday or something like that. It's not gonna change the bottom line by all that much, but every little bit counts.

Well, that's kinda why some teams do this: ( I belive Edmonton charges $500.00 but, I could be mistaken. I just remember hearing that from SOMEWHERE )

I like the idea.... hey, anywhere Winnipeg's new NHL team can get revenue is a bonus, right?
But.... wouldn't something like this "de-value" the occassion for a real "ceremonial opening face-off" (say by a former NHL legend or the president of a local charity, etc.)

That would be cool, but BT has a point about demeaning the prestige of a ceremonial face off, but the zamboni thing is really cool, lol

I dont think theres a whole loto f prestige to it. I also doubt a lot of people would pay $500.00 to do it I mean its worth it being on the ice and all but not everyone could afford it.
