They should be taking spare change...I've given enough dimes to Tim Hortons summer camps over the years. Is there any possible way to just start some sort of Trust Fund that will eventually go towards paying a relocation fee / expansion fee? As I thirteen year old in 1996 I happily through $5 into the mix, as I recall a neighbour of ours gave $5000. Eventually several million dollars are donated by the community fundraising drive to any owner relocating here...In return the owner signs an agreement to commit to the city for X amount of years... We're the city that has the grassroots demanding a team back, let's show that!

How is this a "revenue stream" for our new NHL team? A revenue stream is something aside from ticket sales our new team will make money off of.
Is there even such thing as a "relocation fee" our ownership group will have to pay? Or are you talking about Winnipegger's "chipping in" for the $120 million we'll pay for the Thrashers or Predators...?

I thought of this as a temporary thing for an NHL team in the final trimester before its birth... Since the term revenue implies a regular return, you're right, this really isn't the right section ...
With regards to a relocation fee, I assumed that there was one; I didn't really know any specifics... Having just listened to David Asper muse about the possibility of expansion, I'm sure that there's a substantial fee involved with that possibility...
But what I'm trying to say is this: If Winnipeg, as a community, completely outside of its government, could put together a cash incentive to help a potential ownership group with start-up costs, it would be a powerful sign that we're radically different from other cities pursuing a franchise. Furthermore, once the community raises a bundle the government might be compelled to acknowledge such efforts with a token match (I know, maybe only a small %)... I know that if there was a collection box at Tim Hortons every time I bought a coffee I'd likely toss a dollar or two in, if there was one at the Toad in the Hole I'd probably stuff a bill in once in a while.
Its worth thinking about.

Of course this should be in the revenue area I mean it is about making money isnt it.
This idea is obviously small potatoes but still you would be surprised by how much money you can make by just saving change
