I know Jets TV has been mentioned before, but that might be a tough sale, cause like it or not, there are people in this city who aren't hockey fans.
What if the channel also had Bomber games, Goldeyes games, old Jets/Bomber/Goldeyes games, and other big sports events taking place in the 'Peg. It would fill up the air time and more people would get the channel for sure.
Yes I realize that revenues would have to be split, but who cares, they are all Winnipeg teams, so it's all good.

I personally think it's a lousy idea. It would never work.. I don't think it'd be legal. And it would make the new Jets $0. That's only because you didn't think of it first. Jealous? ;D

What do you think they show on Leafs TV??? They don't just show Leafs games 24-7, they show CHL, and all sorts of other stuff. So why not have a Winnipeg Sports Network or even Manitoba Sports Network. What legality, it would be a TV network that signs a contract with all of the sports teams in Manitoba to show there games on the network. You could show Wheaties games, Goldeyes, Bombers, Jets. Each team would get it's own contract, and get the revenue from that. The TV network makes it's money through advertising (commercials) and charging say $5/month for the channel, or something like that. If you make it a Manitoba station, it would be more successful, thus allowing each team to get a better contract.

Get over yourself, you are not the end-all-be-all of this board.
Incase you haven't noticed, there are people in the city/province who don't care about the Jets. By combining a network for all of the sports teams in Manitoba, more people will subscribe to the channel, meaning the network makes more money, meaning each team can demand a higher contract. People who don't care about the Jets, but would like to watch the Goldeyes, pay for the channel. Personnaly, I'd be happy if the revenues got divided amongst all the teams in the province.
If the Bomber's make a little more money, maybe they are able to sign that extra big name free agent, that they otherwise couldn't afford.
The Jets will get there revenue from the station, being that they will have an 82 game schedule, they would have a larger contract than the other teams, add to that the level of the league, and they'd make a fair chuck off of it.
Sorry I don't have tunnel vision like you BT, I would like to see all aspects of the city improve, as well as getting the Jets back. Oooops, I guess I should have posted this in The City of Winnipeg section, or perhaps the Off-Topic.

This board is about making profit for a new Winnipeg NHL team - NOT other Winnipeg sports teams. My idea of pay-per-view games on MTS t.v., Webcast, SilverCity, IMAX, etc. is the best way to maximize t.v. revenue... Not some ridiculous "Manitoba sports channel" where people can watch Jets games for free. Who said that the channel is free? This would be a premium channel, that would cost money per month/yr to subscribe to. The network would have a contract with the team, which is how the team makes money. The network makes money from the subscriptions and advertising.

i dont think this is a bad idea. it would all depend on how big of a chunk the jets would get out of this kind of a tv deal. i can see it generating a lot of revenue for all the teams.

The idea stinks and that's the end of this thread. Translation: How DARE you infringe on MY domain? I'm supposed to be the only one allowed to come up with revenue sources. You hear me? The ONLY one!

Destune, that's not true! And that's not what I'm saying. I welcome all revenue source ideas (I wish more people would come up with some, actually)... as long as they're *realistic*... this one isn't, and even if it was, it wouldn't be a "revenue source" for a new Winnipeg NHL team. And your money-losing IMAX idea is any better???

I would subscribe to a channel like you have mentioned in an instant!

obviously the jets would get the biggest piece of the pie. i think PPV would work better but it doesnt hurt to discuss all options. thats what this thread is for isnt it?

It's for REALISTIC options. REALISTIC ideas. All of mine are realistic. This idea is not. Case closed; this thread is dead. Yes, master....

how is this not a realistic idea? If its not PPV then they would get advertising revenues from companies that place commercials on the channel, and not only would the Jets benefit, it would also benefit the Goldeyes and Bombers.
Is this likely to happen? NO. Same can be said about alot of the other rev. sources, but this is a good idea, because Batman said so.

I'd love to see this work out. If only to spite B_T.
It is realistic, it could work, it would be a great place for local sports info. What's so bad about that?

MOC you're being a total Go Jets Go on the board lately. And I find it sad and pathetic that ppl. would rather argue with me in this thread than talk about the *realistic* revenue sources, or coming up with new ones... Just sad. All I'm doing is agreeing with Trent Steele's post, you know, the one where he brought up a new realistic revenue source?

All I'm doing is agreeing with Trent Steele's post, you know, the one where he brought up a new realistic revenue source? LOL.. Blackie is trying to acquire a monopoly on this category. If someone besides himself dares to bring up a new revenue source, ol' Blackie shoots it down since he did not think of it first! ;D

Thanks for the support guys.
I'm not really concerned whether BT thinks it's realistic or not.

I wouldn't. This is... ticking me off. It's so ridiculous! One sports channel (that's all ppv) that has all a province's respective sports teams on it? Show me 1 other place on the PLANET that does this... As for ppv Jet games on t.v., refer to my posts about them in this section. This idea isn't worth my time... and it would make the "New Jets" about $3.00 if by some miracle it came to fruition... HAZAA! HIPOCRITE! NOW TELL ME HOW WE WILL GENERATE MORE REVENUE THAN THE OILERS IF WE DONT TRY "NEW' THINGS? Does a hockey theme park exist... no... There are alot of rev. sources mentioned that do not exist anywhere...
