How about a "Jets Fantasy Camp" for kids aged 8 - 16?
The fee could be $300 - $500 and allow you to practice w/ the Jets at the MTS Centre, get autographs, have some kind of 'hockey school' where various Jets teach you about the game of hockey and go through drills with you...
It could take place from a Fri. night to Sun. afternoon. Kids could bring their sleeping bags to the MTS Centre and sleep in the concourse! Ridiculous? Maybe. But a potential money-maker.

Fantasy camps seem to work in baseball and I know Gretzky has one, so why limit it to kids...make camps available for adults too and charge them more!

This is Sheer brilliance. I can see them charging well over $1000 for this camp. Hockey parents are nuts, and pay big coin for their childrens equipment and stuff. a camp that is of this quality would be a MONEY MAKER supreme. Not to mention, the Jets are going to have a training camp already. This would be almost no extra cost to the franchise. They could hold 3 or 4 different sessions during the summer, when kids are looking for training anyway to keep them in shape.

Thanks "Stone Cold" Ian.
Yeah on second thought my original price of $300-$500 *is* a little low considering how much some other teams charge for similar events...
Make it $1,000 per family.... with maybe a portion going to Hockey Manitoba or some other youth hockey organization in Winnipeg...

I don't understand this, sounds great, but where do the Jets profit. You would still have to pay the players, staff etc, and it can't be so huge that you may have 10 minutes on the ice with a Jet. Look at Gretzky's camp, I believe it is $5000 for the week, but it has limited space.

How much "staff" would you need for this? I mean really... As for the players, I can't imagine them being payed too much for doing this. It's a way of "giving back" to the fans anyways, is it not? Maybe there could be a clause in some Wpg Jet contracts that states they have to do this. Think about it... they're giving kids the thrill of a lifetime... isn't that reward enough for them? Wait I forgot... these are heartless, soulless, greedy NHL players...

Thats an amazing idea, people would not only come from all over Winnipeg for that, but we would be getting people from Brandon, Steinbach etc.
