I read something interesting in the Globe and Mail this morning. It seems that CBC only pays $50M Cdn a year for their NHL broadcast rights, and TSN pays only $15M Cdn.
The article didn't mention what Sportsnet pays, but I can't see it being more than CBC. Their US TV deal will likely generate them nothing, since its a revenue sharing deal, and if they don't generate ratings, they'll get squat.
So let's convert to US funds and estimate, per team what TV brings in: CBC = $1.35 M US TSN = $400,000 US ESPN = $2M US Sportsnet = $1M US (estimate) NBC = $1M US (generous estimate) TOTAL = $5,750,000 US per team from TV = sweet pi$$ all!
Moral of the story: All the revenue streams on this page are very important!

That's what I've been trying to tell people for so long!
Because Winnipeg will be a small market team and have a the smallest seating capacity in the NHL, it is absolutely vital the owners of our team take advantage of ideas on these 2 pages.

the national US contracts suck. but US local broadcast revenues generate substantial revenue for some clubs.
ie. the islanders get us$ 17 million/year and the penguins get us$ 10 million/year
and consider the rangers, flyers, etc. - if their rights were accurately reported by market value by their cable company owners i imagine their tv rights are upwards of us$ 30 million/year.
local broadcast rights are a nice slice of the nhl pie in the US, and this is mainly why the "rich" teams don't want to share revenue. teams in the nascar/sun belt get squat.
this is why JetsTV will be essential for the Jets, much like LeafsTV is essential for the Leafs.
with a sold out arena, JetsTV and PPV will be a goldmine, and make the Jets not only feasible, but profitable.
