Revenue from? What kind of idea's can we get from theirs?
Below is a posting from ctv.ca... It states NFL and MLB take 62-64% of the revenue... What kind of revenue do they generate?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Is there hope this can be solved in time to save this season?
Most professional hockey watchers say no, but it depends whether money or philosophy wins out.
According to Bettman, there's only a 2.6 percentage-point gap between the two sides in terms of revenue share going to the players: 54 per cent is the owners' offer; the players want 56.6 per cent.
For other leagues, NFL players get 64 per cent. Major League Baseball players get 63 per cent, and NBA basketball players get 58 per cent.
All those leagues, however, have much more diversified revenue sources than NHL hockey, which mainly relies on gate revenue.
But philosophically, the players don't want a salary cap. The owners say they'll settle for nothing less than cost certainty.
It depends on whether one side is willing to lose the entire season to a labour dispute - a radical step in the history of sports business in North America.
