thats what winnipeg should of had instead of building a new arena. The bombers and True NOrth should of went in partnership and build a multipurpose stadium. Therefore you would have one building used in more calender dates. Adding a new convention centre to the mix would great too. A retractable roof would of been fine too.

There WAS a proposal brought forward in 1995 for something like this -- at the height of the Save the Jets campaign.
It was for a statdium/arena MULTI-PLEX. I remember going to the Convention Centre and watching the video presentation and so forth.
Can't recall who's idea it was but it was a major proposal and was supposed to be built at the Forks.
But once again, Winnipeg falls short.

Paul Sveinson (sic?) was the champion pushing this concept around 1995 during the era known as the Great Arena Debate (1950 - 2003). I remember the name of the proposal was "SNOWCAP". Great idea, but it had horrible marketing. "SNOWCAP": doesn't that just get the tourists running for our fine city?! It says Winterpeg in few letters! Chris
