Finally what? I have NEVER stated that I think that a new stadium is the best use of taxpayers money. However, I do think that if taxpayer money is going to be involved anyway, we might as well get the best value out of it, and that means an enclosed stadium. And as we saw today, like I already knew, the Bombers agree with me.

If they are going to go with a domed stadium, they may as well go all the way and do a retractable roof.

If they are going to go with a domed stadium, they may as well go all the way and do a retractable roof. That would probably be the most ideal solution that would please everybody. I just have a hard time believing that Winnipeg could afford a stadium with a retractable roof, but if it can be done at a reasonable cost to the taxpayers, then I would be all for it.

Just make a super-cheap retractable roof... one that's always in danger of collapsing onto the fans below. It will add a wonderful level of intensity to Bomber games.
Seriously though.. it's not about "Winnipeg can't afford it!"... it's about who's involved... who's paying for it... and how much they'd be willing to spend.
It's kind of like the Manitoba Moose, this situation... sure, the stadium/team is in Winnipeg, but it has little to do with Winnipeg itself.

Retractable would be a good idea, but very little if any taxpayers money should go into it. It should be done privately if it is feasible at all and that would depend solely on what other events that there study shows that they could attract.

Okay, but I hope you feel the same way about taxpayer involvement if the stadium is not going to be enclosed.

Okay, but I hope you feel the same way about taxpayer involvement if the stadium is not going to be enclosed. Yes, very little if no taxpayer involvment if it's not enclosed. I am living up here for the next 18 months, from Minnesota (but a dual citizen) the Vikings and Twins have been trying for the past 5 years to get stadiums built with taxpayer money and I have been very vocal about it with my house and senate reps. These teams should be able to privately finance their own stadiums. I realize that it is different with the Bombers, that is why I would be agreeable to a small amount of taxpayers money to be involved, by small say 25-45 million (with all three levels of government chipping in) and perhaps some tax breaks for the first 5 years or so.

I don't want to go back through the 12 pages on here. Since WEC is no longer in operation, do the Bombers now own the Canad Inns stadium? Who owns the land that it sits on?

I think what was meant is the CFL signs players that have been cut from NFL camps, moving the start of the season back a month they could still do it, just wouldn't have as many games that they could play

Well in the paper today is states how Winnipeg is lacking facilities for Indoor Soccer. Maybe a dome would be the answer to that problem. You could have a few games going on at the same time in there

Soccer once again in Winnipeg. Somehow I don't see that bringing in a lot of money to make it worth building an indoor facility.
I see a partially closed stadium happening but I do wish for something indoor. It would make for a great year round facility.
