Are you from TBay, trebendan? If AHL in TBay sold out, at regular prices, their average attendance wouldn't be in the bottom 5, even in the old barn.
A problem would be that it would cost more for them to travel than most teams, which might be hard to pay for with attendance under 4k. They would have to charge above-average AHL prices for sure, but it could work. An advantage would be the novelty of it being new would coincide with the time before the new rink is built, they would probably sell out everything and be able to charge decent prices and people would pay it for awhile. Then once they got to the new rink it could work for sure, if they are managed/marketed properly.
That's my opinion anyway, but I've only lived here for a few months now!

Does anyone think that if the Coyotes come here and then the Moose move, that it would be to Thunder Bay? The largest arena in Thunder Bay seats only about 3,500, which seems much too small for an AHL team. there were 7 teams under 4000 average attendence this year in the ahl theahl.com/stats/schedule.php?view=attendance&season_id=30

The problem with people on here judging where the Moose could go is that they forget that Winnipeg is the exception, not the rule when it comes to AHL attendances, arenas and production values. For every Moose, there are 3 teams that scrape by with rinks, marketing and other things that aren't much above OHL/WHL standard. Having been to AHL games in cities other than Winnipeg, I think it could work in TBay or Saskatoon.

I'm not from TBay, mcmolineux. I appreciate that information. I agree, then, with your opinion that it could probably work there, especially with a new rink, eventually. The current one was last refurbished in the mid-90's, so it might be time for them to build a new one.

It's the oldest of barns that I can think of, and I've been in some bad ones (like the old OHL one in Kingston where games got canceled a couple of times because of a leaky roof!). Fortunately they have already put money aside for a new rink, and have begun public consultations on the project. It looks like it will be the centrepiece of an ambitious lakefront development project they're attempting (the first phase of which has already started). As a new arrival it will be interesting to see how it all goes down.

Thanks for posting this Kenny S. I, too, got this email and I think its another great way to generate revenue for True North. Any money in the pockets of True North helps out the ROTJ campaign. I don't play rec hockey myself, but my brother-in-law does. I'm going to ask him to encourage his team to move over to the MMHL from the old Highlander.

I got the email as well and thought it looked fantastic; Any thoughts of getting a ROTJ rec league team together?

Anyone notice that it looks like the Moose are recycling the "HARDCORE HOCKEY" tagline for the third year in a row? They used to change it up each season. I guess the True North guys must have had something else on their minds this year!

Wade Flaherty is in the pipes for them also. Talk about an old quote ._. Either way, I have season tickets to the WBS Penguins and his name to this day remains mud in W-B: He owned us in the 04 Calder Cup Finals with Milwaukee, then broke up our massive unbeaten streak in 05-06 with the Moose Go Baby Pens!

Mike Keane is calling it a career. I don't care if you hate the Moose or support them.. whatever, but you should feel proud this guy's a Winnipegger, and his story was a great one. Congrats on a stellar career Keaner

Congrats on a stellar career Keaner Agreed 100%. The guy is a combination of grit, class and intensity. If he decides to get into coaching let's hope TNSE can make some room for him somewhere behind the Jets bench ;D

I loved Keane!!! He was money in the shootouts (nothing fancy, just consistency), and shorthanded goals!

Do the moose now have green road or alternate jerseys? I was playing NHL 11 today and there road jerseys in the game were green? Does anyone have any info on these new jerseys in the game, or is this actually going to be one of their jerseys for the upcoming year. Thx

Does anyone know when the season ticket event is? My rep told me they have some wine and cheese thing where you can pick up your tickets and meet some of the players and coaching staff, anyone hear anything?
I also would like to know if anyone knows where they stand at regarding season ticket sales?

I was told there was an information packet sent out Friday Sept.10th and then i would have it the following week. It's been almost 2 weeks since they were "sent" out, and i've received nothing. ( Season Ticket Holder Here......)
