Not sure if anyone saw Nick Kypreos interviewed on SportsNet earlier today/yesterday (they replay the interview quite often) when he mentioned that the NHL players will soon begin to receive lockout pay. And, he felt that the "union" (his word not mine) had enough money banked to last should the lockout go on for two full seasons. And, by the way, the amount each player would receive on "a monthly" basis would be 5-6 thousand dollars. Forgive me. But, I can't see many of these players being able to maintain their current lifestyles on 72K a year. That's a game cheque for some of these guys. Give me a break.

Hurrm... I had not herd that, but i am happy to hear it.
Yeah, i think that 5 - 6 thousand a month isn't going to support the Players lifstyle for themselves and their families. As well, I think the NHLPA will really have a bad feeling when they start dishing that money out to each and every NHL player...
Hopefully that puts a little bit of pressure on them to lower their standards.

I just can't see #7 (I'm pretty sure everyone knows who he is) getting by on a maximum of 72K/yr, when he's been making upward of 9M/per.

I'm hoping to see a bunch of NHLers retire the minute the cap comes in to play.
Those who would rather play for money then for the love of the game should not be playing at all.

72K is pocket change to most people who earn a average wage of $1.8M/yr.
