BT has always been known for his sarcasm. That's why we love him. He's the 'Don Cherry' of the forum. Never afraid to speak his mind!

You can keep up with that campaign at www.whalerwatch.com (A disaster of a website but they are doing great work in Hartford. I even offered to make their site look pretty and be more easy to use for FREE and they were not interested !!!)

I submitted a blub regarding this in the "Don Cherry says move em to Winnipeg" Thread. I also provided a link to an article explaining the situation there and this guy's intent. It basically states that he has openly claimed he is willing to lay down the cash for a new arena and he is already contacting NHL officials to begin talking of the possibilities.

Well incase any of you are interested in some articles about what is going on in other cities, try this link. It's about the interest that is growing in Hartford. I believe as much as the rest of you do, that Winnipeg is the best choice for a new franchise, but let's face it, we still do have competition and it is useful to know what these "other" cities are up to. www.nhregister.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=15881619&BRD=1281&PAG=461&dept_id=7592&rfi=6

Another interesting article. Posted on the MSNBC website. An american network actually putting a positive spin on Winnipeg's hopes. Here is the link and here is a sample quote that sums up the jist of the article: "Winnipeg is boasting a state-of-the-art arena, which will host the AHL all-star game this season. The city has obviously already lost a team in the past, but with the rise of the MTS Centre, there is hope that Manitoba can lure back the NHL. In the United States, there are Kansas City and Portland. And you can imagine Las Vegas will get into the act, because when it comes to reeling in a professional sports team, Vegas seems to always be looking. Kansas City is a football town, but there is a grassroots movement to bring in the NHL. The people involved often cite great attendance for an annual preseason game. But it's one thing to host one game a year and fill the seats and another to try to sustain that over an entire season. Can the people of K.C. really get behind an NHL hockey team? Will they be willing to pay the ticket prices and trek out into the winter weather for anything other than the Chiefs? " msnbc.msn.com/id/10438397/from/RL.3/

It's all just talk in Hartford right now. It would 3-5 years off that they could even think of getting NHL back and mega red tape around building a new arena. Hartford, like WPG, has a SOLID fan base but is the NHL really interested in coming back to these small markets (by their standards)? note: Hartford is the largest US TV market w/o a major pro team.
