you are wrong, joel the pats almost moved about 9 or 10 years ago.believe me the pats were 4th fiddle until tom brady showed up.. I remember when the Pats almost moved, but that was a brief dark period in New england football history. I believe it was during the early 90's. Well Boston will always be RedSox coutry, with any other pro team playing second fiddle..

Have to disagree man... The flyers are huge in Philly....and New Jersey for that matter. Either way the NHL needs to stop sending teams to the Southern US of A no matter how big of an arena a team could get. First priority is to move a team to Winnipeg or Hartford. Once that's done I would look into either Salt Lake city or Quebec city. I don't know about that, many a time the Flyers have outdrawn the Phillies. Hell, the Wings lacrosse team outdraws the Phillies a lot of the time too. (New stadium, only 30,000 seats and it is STILL half empty all the time.) The Flyers and the Eagles are top dog in Philadelphia.

Oklahoma is a football state period. Hockey would be as iffy there as Carolina and Nashville. However, kevin donnelly would prefer that they be ahead of us in line for an expansion team so he can book more 3rd tier concerts at chipman's arena. Please.

You guys shouldn't be fretting about the NHL adding a franchise in Oklahoma. It's not gonna happen. The NHL now knows that money isn't burried in southern cities and that the gold mines are in die hard hockey cities like Winnipeg, Quebec City and the northern states. Green Bay for example. Look at Ottawa, surrounded by Tampa Bay, Florida, San Jose, Anaheim around the time of the 1992 expansion to 26 teams. Do you see those four southern teams making the playoffs 8 Years in a row like ottawa? I dont think so!

You guys shouldn't be fretting about the NHL adding a franchise in Oklahoma. It's not gonna happen. How would you know? Do you have inside information? Oklahoma would more likely be lumped toghether as a "mid-Western" city, like St. Louis, Denver, Dallas, Houston, Minnesota, etc. Hockey has always been far more popular historically in the mid-west (even in texas) than cities where hockey is a mere novelty (Southern California, Arizona, Las Vegas, Tennesse, Caroliina, Florida, and Atlanta...) I have no idea what you are trying to say by comparing Ottawa's on ice-sucess in the last few years, with Florida, Anaheim, and SanJose. First off, San Jose has had much sucess in the last few years, despite struggling in their first 5 years of existance. It has everything to do with good management.

what is this crazy talk about oklahoma city, lol !
actually, there is a growing passion for the game in this region, especially with the USHL, but i don't see the nhl as a possibility here in the next five-ten years.

It's a bloody shame they gave untested markets like Carolina, Miami, Tampa, Phoenix, and Nashville franchises, when they could have put the teams in proven grounds like Houston, Oklahoma City, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Seattle, or Portland. At least the NHL got it right on the last time around, giving Columbus and St Paul, MN teams, two franchises that have been very sucessful off the ice.

and then we have the ol' KC Scouts. Empty arenas, and 20 game winless streaks were commonplace... Future Jets coach Bob Murdoch in action, as a Cleveland Baron. There are actually fans in the background.... Look! It's Lanny McDonald. Lanny was caught in the crossfire of the infamous war between Darryl Sittler and Harold Ballard. Wanting to prove he was the "man" in TO, Ballard shipped McDonald to the Colorado Rockies for next-to-nothing, ensuring the Leafs would go at leat a decade without a competetive team

Quick Fact:
The Cleveland Barons Richfield Coliseum was the largest arena of its time with a seating capacity of 18 200. Unfortunately the arena was out in the boonies and no one was willing to drive outside of Cleveland to catch a Barons game. 13,110 fans showed up to watch the Barons come from behind to tie the Philadelphia Flyers 2-2 in 78' (a team record)
