There are plenty of million dollar houses for sale. look at Waverly West. They might have to be a bit patient but a million dollar home here would likely be a three million dollar home in TO.
I guess maybe there isnt that millionaires neighbourhood in Winnipeg with a lot of rental properties but if that is the difference in a players life than he's got no real concerns.

Of course, now that the initial enthusiasm for Winnipeg getting a team is wearing off, we get the Toronto buzzkill/negativity. I hate Toronto. It longs to be considered a world-class international city, but unfortunately it can't because, unlike REAL world-class cities, it is entirely bland and extremely farty. Here's something to be proud of, Toronto: you are the "creative" centre responsible for the most putrid, embarrassing television and advertising product in the entire world. But at least you have lots of 10 million dollar homes for your piece of crap, talentless Leaf players to hole up in while bored out of their minds in Toronto. Piss off. I'll second that.

I think that the concern isn't for purchasing houses, its for renting appartments/condos. I don't know how the market is for high-end rentals, but I'm sure there isn't a large surplus of vacant penthouse suites.

I love the description "extremely farty" ;D I'm happy you mentioned the fact that it's known as a "creative centre". Go Jets Go that. The stuff their filmmakers, musicians and whatnot come up with is as bland and soulless as the city itself.

Yeah, I just really detest the defensive, unearned ego of that place. And the longer the Leafs go without winning the Cup, the more insufferable the Toronto media becomes, vacillating between cheerleading in one extreme and bitter, whiny blather when the team ultimately fails on the other.

Despite what you think about McCown's comment, that's a reason to bash the entire city of Toronto? Wow... By the sounds of your comments, you've never been to the city...

I know enough. Unfortunately, I've seen it's essence distilled in "entertainment" and commercial advertising.

Naysayer alert! God these people are so pathetic because of the fact they can't stop! Maybe McClown is jealous that Winnipeg might win a Stanley Cup before Toronto ever gets one back!

Wow, THREE whole players are unhappy with their current situation??? What a non-story (if true). McCown doesn't think the possibility exists that EVERY TEAM IN THE LEAGUE HAS DISGRUNTLED PLAYERS? The housing thing is such nonsense; the only part that rings true is that there isn't a large inventory of luxury homes available for rent. Serious question.... when was the last time McCown was in Winnipeg? All these bashers "conveniently" hang onto the old perceptions and stereotypes of Winnipeg from 20 years ago. Newsflash: things have changed. Serious answer.... McCowan's ego wouldn't fit inside the City limits. Does the guy sleep with those friggin sunglasses on. I guess he figures he's just soooooo cooooool. Larry David said it best: "you know who wears sunglasses inside?....blind people and assholes!" Bob McCown is not blind.

Ummmmm, THE OAKS? Dustin Boyd has is home for sale at the moment. Dude has massive financial issues at the moment..... and a drinking problem to boot. Very surprising about the financial issues. His contract was $650000 in the NHL or AHL for the past two years. I think he is still a UFAwith no contract. www.capgeek.com/players/display.php?id=448As for the drinking. He must drink some high end stuff to blow all of that cash. I suggest he pick up some Lucky at the vendor and return his empties when done. It can save you a few bucks here and there.

If you're a pro athlete and your already bricking your gitch because you know you're going to be playing in a rabid, intense environment in which you'll be held accountable, we have three words for you: you are pathetic.
