No. This is me looking almost straight forward sitting down with my back against the seat. You can see the edge of the boards basically lining up *just* under the rail. there is very little obstruction. If I lean forward just slightly, there are no visual impedements at all.

That railing is deceptive ... it always looks like a huge obstruction in photos, but you "look through it" when focused on the ice ... almost each seat in the bottom 6 rows of the upperdeck has to look through some railing ...
I suggested to True North they replace the "black steel mesh" from the entryway (where the railing is significantly higher) with plexiglass. This is what they have done in the 200 level ... hopefully, they offer us "upperdeckers" the same courtesy.

Here is what I am talking about ... notice the 200 level has plexiglass guardrails to increase transparency and reduce obstructions. Unfortunately, the upperdeck is all "steel mesh" at this point. Attachments:

Don't those mesh guards just block the view of people who sit in the first couple of rows of the section and is it really that big of a deal?

nathan, it seemed like if we had sat in rows 1-3 that the mesh gaurds / rails could be an issue. I didn't actually sit down a row to see whether or not it would be an issue, since it wasn't an issue for me in Row 4.

Are the rails on the stairs an issue for people who sit in the isle?
Sorry my mom is likely going to have to go and pick these up for me, and I want to be sure what to tell her.

A solid option for those that don't like the view from their seats is to give them up, so that 8,000 others might get a chance to complain !

Yes, I realize it's not in the vaunted section 318, but I didn't want to start my own thread to express my joy.
I inspected things pretty thoroughly tonight, and in row four the railings appear to block a very small portion of the ice near the boards in the opposite zone. I'm talking very small here. I'm thrilled with my seats.

Section 317 row 3 seats 9-10. first row up from the handicap space with a rail I can lean forward on. Also no camera blocking our view.
