i hope the Nords go with a different logo than that thing^. that was the logo they would have used in 95-96. might have been a blessing they moved before they did.

Why did Buffalo leave Rochester in 08 to affiliate with Portland anyhow?

It is the closest we can get for an AHL afilliate... It is a car ride of about 5 hours from QC to Portland.
But I thought that every canadian NHL team has an affiliate in Canada, except for the Oilers?

Questions:
1. I know QC is trying to build an arena. Is there an ownership group that could take control of the team in a year?
2. I know Balsillie is ready to be an owner. Can Copps Coliseum hold a team?
3. How serious was that Seattle group? I know they have no plans for a stadium, so thats probably a huge problem. Key Arena would suck. It might work for a season or two while a stadium is built, but I dont think they are even close to a stadium.

1. Yes, we have Quebecor. And they can take control pretty quick. They are launching their new sports TV channel next fall;
2. Take a look at RIM shares these days...;
3. Seattle arena is in a lot worse shape than our good old barn in QC City.

Hamilton or Quebec City, one of them should be able to get the Coyotes. I believe Quebec should get them, sorry Hamilton but Quebec fits right in with us and shouldn't have lost their team either, especially since they were a season away from a Stanley cup. Make it 8.

All the Joke fans are blaming the GWI for the sale not getting done. I love it.

That was Jim Balsillie's plan if the league wouldn't have stopped him from buying Phoenix. Short term it could work. I'm not sure if a team can play there during the renovations or if they would do them in phases during the offseason. The Seattle group is doing preliminary explorations. They wouldn't be after Phoenix unless they held on for a couple more years. Seattle is a more 5-10 years down the road thing. Perhaps Florida will move there some day. What its going to come down to for Quebec is finalizing a deal for a new arena. If they do they will get Phoenix. If not i bet they go to Houston.

I think they would be going to Hamilton first especially with the recent comments by GB in regards to Balsillie. Quebec needs to get their arena sorted out and there good to go, it would be nice if their potential owner would stop taking that Hulsizer approach and man up. We saw how that strategy worked out for Matt.

I agree Selanne405. I think time is the essence and Balsillie has the upper hand. I still want QC to get a team--Florida? Columbus? Dallas? How would a move affect Bettman's proposed plans for major realignment in 2012 and beyond as rumored? I think thats the reason he didn't do it this year, as he's waiting for the Phoenix shoe to drop so we can see where they end up when the roulette wheel stops.
I dont think we've heard the last from JR however. Bettman's got to have a few tricks left up his sleeve. I mean, he can't get completed fleeced with these Southern franchises moving. 2 in 2 years would be PR hell but maybe he's realized its the only way? Lets hope so.

WHat scares me is finding an owner to keep the team in Glendale and then "expanding" to Quebec and SoOn in the next few years. There isn't enough talent in the league for 30 teams, let alone 28. And I find it highly unlikely that the NHL would relocate 2 or 3 more of it's southern teams.
Is there a Coyotes discussion board?
