Due to the overwhelming response of the Return of the NHL, how about the Return of the Winnipeg Warriors.
The Moose fans that did not purchase tickets to the NHL because of the price might be interested.
I thought for sure there would be an AHL - WHL swap with Saskatoon when the NHL came back.

While the WHL idea is appealing, it would be nice if the U of M got its Go Jets Go together and turned the Bison hockey team into a bigger attraction than it is. It's very high calibre hockey (most of the players are WHL grads) and quite entertaining too - very reasonably priced for families and casual fans. I think part of the problem is that the U of M refuses to promote its sports teams... that, combined with the fact that Max Bell Arena sucks keeps it from taking off.

Actually had a dream last night that TNSE decided to keep the Moose name for a new team in another league (perhaps the WHL), and named the NHL team the Jets. Apparently since NHL tickets was already sold out, they felt it would not hurt them to have another team sharing the market, and it would give them a chance to keep the Moose brand alive.
Seems that a team playing out of the IcePlex might be a possibility, with a few of their bigger games played at MTSC.

The biggest rink at the Iceplex seats 1500 which is OK for MJHL, but way too small for WHL. The smallest rink in the dub is more than twice as big.

For some reason I thought they could seat 3-4K at the IcePlex. Initially I thought they shouldn't try to run a WHL team alongside an NHL team in year 1, because they wouldn't want to compete with themselves and would want to make sure both could be supported. At this point, I don't think that is much of an issue. Having a more family friendly priced hockey alongside the NHL, run by TNSE, could definitely work in Winnipeg. The bigger issue is prep time. The last thing TNSE needs to worry about right now is running an expansion/relocated WHL team. They're busy enough as it is.

But it only seems to work if there is cooperation with the NHL team. It failed in Edmonton when the Oilers didn't want them there. Obviously with TNSE owning the rink, they'd need to be interested and involved, or it will not happen. But it was definitely an interesting way to have both the Jets and Moose brands continue on.

Just rope off the upper decks like for Moose games, and it would be perfect. I bet that a WHL team could do at least 4,000 a game, give or take a thousand, provided that tickets aren't exorbitantly priced.

A WHL team would be awesome for those who cant get NHL tickets, roughly about 15-20 a ticket per game its Great Hockey, all the NHL cities in Canada have a team, Great rivalries with Brandon, Regina, Moose Jaw and Saskatoon

It won't work, but not because of the 'usual suspects'. The MTS Centre doesn't have enough open dates because of concerts to operate the WHL out of the building, and since concerts are a bigger revenue draw they get priority. Brandon's season tickets are 9 bucks a game uniformly. Regardless, if TNSE owned the club they could offer a promotion of 20% off regular price season tickets for people on the waiting list. Would be a good way to satisfy people who aren't able to get into Jets games. Hate to say it, but the WHL won't work in Winnipeg under current circumstances without a new building for a franchise. Maybe something that seats 7k at most, and I don't see it happening.

^ There is plenty of time at the MTSC to accommodate another 40 dates. Obviously the games can't be on Saturday night, but perhaps Sunday afternoon or Tuesday evenings are more workable. A WHL team would not need the prime dates... it could take the scraps.
If ACC can handle NHL/NBA as well as a full load of concerts and events (far more than MTSC), then I'm pretty sure MTSC can handle NHL/WHL.

I think that could be true to some extent, but the MTS Centre also has an agreement to provide some time for community events in return for the funding they received from the province. Not sure if that would hurt the ability to do this. Either way, I think the WHL is something that won't be happening any time soon, even though I agree it would be great to see.

I didn't come up with this, TNSE stated that there simply aren't the dates.

I can't anderstand why there wouldn't be any dates if in Toronto and other cities for that matter have 3 teams playing in the same arena plus concert dates. As toronto has example toronto has lacrosse, NBA, NHL plus concerts. actually wasn't True north thinking about bringing indoor soccer or arena football?
