I know not to many will tailgate come November-March, but Philly/Boston/Vancover all have areas around the arena where people gather and pre party. I haven't had the pleasure of being to MTS Center yet. Is there an area where people gather to tailgate?

No. I always went to one of the restaurants before the game, had a few drinks at the Tavern, or BP... maybe they will shut down Portage or Graham before and after games? You could go party at the forks, but its a bit of a walk from the arena.

I'm quite excited for the regular season opener, have about 20-30 guys already planning to meet up for drinks before we head to the game.

its a little bit fuckin cold for most the season, kinda hard to tailgate when ur face is frozen. Although it gives you an excuse to drink alot to numb the pain. That's why I mentioned most won't from November-March. But come playoff time, unless you're a bit of a wussy, it's warmed up enough to be outside.

Liquor laws are medieval here, which means that there is no tailgating for hockey, football, anything. Every year people attempt to tailgate at Bomber (football) games but of course the police are there, carefully scrutinizing the contents of each cup because of the obvious threat that a beer poses to society. You have to be uber discreet to get away with it, which means that it's mostly just small groups of tailgaters here and there - there is no culture of large-scale tailgating like in the US. Which sucks, because tailgating can be a ton of fun!

I remember! That does suck! Here in Philly you basically walk right up to the arena, passing dozens of police, and throw your beer can in the recycling bin at the doors. As long as you're civil there is no problem, and it IS a blast! I guess MTS' surrounding establishments will be the places to have a few prior to the games, which isn't so bad, depending on the service. I recall the SharkClub in Vancouver would have been great, but it took 30 minutes to get a beer!
