I'm all for good hard-hitting hockey, but c'mon.

That was brutal......I want Boston to win more than ever now....between the teeth chomping diving and now your fourth line bum taking out bostons best goal scorer. I hope boston comes out even more chippy the next game.....Ten years ago one of the sedins wouldn't have made it to the end of the game.....

That was literally the textbook example of watching your pass over the blue line. The hit was late but not nearly as late as the announcers made it out to be. Congrats Boston, at the end of the year you can hang your hat on this: you walloped the stanley cup champions one game!

Hmmm.... Looks eerily familiar...
NOTE: YouTube title should correctly read, "Peca crushes Selanne... with a blatantly late cheapshot..."

I have always absolutely hated the canucks. The hit on Selanne is more than a good enough reason,

The hit was clean, but late.
^^I like Domi on the bench.. looks like he's going to murder him.
also crazy how different the care is now. Today Teemu would have left on a stretcher. they let him stand and he falls!

The hit was not clean........left his feet....hit his head.....it was a cheap shot and nothing else.....sorry nuks fans even if they still win most people will look at it as a bush league cup win. I mean whats next a two hand over the head with a stick. I am not a fan of either team so I have nothing invested here. From the perspective of just a hockey fan the nuks look cheap and I am now hoping the bruins win....

He didn't even hit him that hard, Rome was mostly standing still. It was absolutely a clean hit! If it wasn't a tad late it wouldn't have even been a penalty --> and when you watched it in real time it was pretty close to exactly 1 second after he passed the puck. Crossing the blue line? Don't admire your pass...

jetsorbust......thats why everyone in the media....TSN, SPORTSNET, ESPN, CBC.....and Don Cherry for gods sake all said it was a late and dirty hit....Fouth liner taking out a star....if it was one of the sedins getting hit you would be calling for Canada to drop a nuke on Boston......When your done sniffing that bottle of glue pick up a rule book you will see it was a dirty hit

They said it was a late hit. The announcers in the game and Cherry himself said it was a clean hit, just late. I agreed it was late, I just didn't agree it was all that late. watch the replay in real time, it's literally right around 1 second after he passes it... so as I said, late but not that late. Every analyst I saw also alluded to the fact that the player has to take some responsibility as well. As I said, that was an absolutely TEXTBOOK example of watching your pass as you cross the blue line!

I'm 2 games away from being a FORMER Canucks fan! It was a late hit but I honestly disagree with all the commentators that it was "so late". It was clearly late but I wish I had a stopwatch... it must have been 0.9 - 1.1 seconds after he passed the puck. I'm willing to bet you could find a million examples of hits that came as late as that one but weren't a big deal cuz the guy didn't get totally crushed and taken off in a stretcher.

When the puck leaves his stick at the red line and he gets hit at the blue line its a late hit and not ONE analyst said it was a clean hit...not one.....most said it was late and he left his feet a bit......your aloud to have an opinion on this......even if its dead wrong......Just watched it again.....BOTH FEET left the ground....that in itself means its not a clean hit....and most players will watch there pass when they want to make sure they stay onside.......Complete Cheap shot....he didn't stay on his feet and plant him in the chest.....he left his feet and hit him in the head....You must have been watching it on a old 13" tv if you think that was a clean hit......wait sorry "late but not that late".......late is late and leaving your feet is leaving your feet....a head shot is a head shot..........

Haha alright bud, your entitled to your opinion too and I'm not gonna order the game on DVD just have backup to what I'm para-phrasing, but several CBC personalities DID say it was a clean hit, just came late. And in my opinion "late is late" just isn't true... you can hit a guy with the puck, and after a pass the unofficial rule is 1-2 strides after a pass is still allowed so obviously there's a grey area. In my opinion that was a clean hit but questionably late so probably interference 2 minutes since it was on a rush. Either way, the cups coming home to Canada and the Jets are coming home to Winnipeg!
