I just have one question.... Wouldn't it have been wise for Quebec to take a cue from True North and secure themselves an Ahl team for a few years to ensure success? Perhaps, oh I don't know.. the Moose?

I don't think it is necessary with Quebec. Quebec is a proven market and the fans there will be wild about their new team.
The only thing the potential ownership group needs to do is to play like TNSE: quiet and discreet.

Perhaps, oh I don't know.. the Moose? Their AHL team was not successful, and moved in the late 1990's. They have a successful QMJHL team. Winnipeg has opened the flood gates for expansion in more Canadian cities. Expect Quebec and Southern Ontario to be granted teams within the next three years.

For some reason I'm not so optimistic about this (though I would like it to happen). That weasel will do everything in his power to keep his experiment alive in the southern US.

Wow, they have 49,869 people who like that page. I don't think they would have problems fulfilling season ticket requirements also.

Perhaps, oh I don't know.. the Moose? I think having plans for a new arena (secure financing, etc...) and a strong ownership group would be the most important factors in bringing the NHL back to Quebec. Starting their own "drive to 13" early might also help. I hope it happens. The whole Glendale situation has made the NHL look extremely bush league, imho. It has to change.

I really hope the NHL returns to QC soon but I think were getting a little ahead of ourselves with the whole flood gates open thing. The situation in Phoenix is still a gongshow but as long as the COG keeps handing out 25 million dollar cheques to the NHL the Coyotes will sadly stay put, they have at least another year or so to try and get a deal done which who knows maybe they will.
We've heard a lot about the Stars being in limbo but Dallas is a huge market and the team has a respectable history so I could see someone stepping up to buy them. It still amazes me that the panthers are still in FLorida but isnt there something to do with their lease thats keeping them there?
The isles could be up for sale if Wang doesnt get that arena done but again given their market and history I think someone would step up to buy them.
DF himself even said something along the lines that PHX falling through for us but still getting the thrashers was essentially a blow for the return of the nords.
Will happen one day but (I hope im wrong mind you) it could be a bit longer than 3 years

QC and Hamilton did not support their IHL/AHL teams, we did. Do the math. (QC will get a team, but the fact that they didn't get behind their pro team has delayed things... it means they still don't have a new rink.)

TSN is starting to hint that the NHL will return to Quebec City the same way they hinted the NHL was going to return to Winnipeg.
As soon as we see a Nordiques-Meter, we know what is expected.
