Is there room for a 2011 draft pick? This has been a team that likes to bring them in early.

IT is not very likely that Couturier makes it to 7. (Although that would be great).
Even if he did though, it probably makes more sense to have him play another year in Junior.
From what I have been reading and following on the Thrashers board (for the last few years), this might be the best lineup:
Ladd-Little-Wheeler Kane-Burmistrov-UFA RW Machacek-Antropov-FCS Thorburn-Slater-Maxwell Boulton Stapleton
Bogosian-Enstrom Byfuglien-Hainsey Stuart-Postma/Oduya Kulda Zubarev
With Oduya shipped off.
This team desperatly needs a top 6 RW to play with Kane and Burmistrov.
Options: Vrbata, Jokinen, Versteeg
I think that they also really need to upgrade the quality of the 3rd line. Hopefully Fake Chris Stewart can improve because most Thrasher fans say his hands are made of stone. Maybe we should call him Neufeld?
A lot depends on the readiness of Cormier and Klingberg. IF those guys can be ready this year, or even after Christmas, then a guy like Antropov could be dealt to a contender at the deadline for a Dustin Penner or Mike Fisher type deal. That could really help this team. You could then have guys like Klingberg and Cormier on the third line, and move Machacek down to the 4th.
There are 3 D in the AHL that are looking for a spot: Postma, Zubarev, and Kulda. If one or two of these guys are ready, you can also deal a guy like Oduya for more pieces.
I have been following this Atlanta team pretty much ever since the famous Hotstove night a few years ago. They are very much like the Oilers in that they have a few good pieces, but they need to add more talent to the roster to really compete.

ISS has Jonathan Huberdeau ranked #7.
Also I think that we should make a big play for Bieksa in Free Agency.
Other players with good price tags are Ville Leino, Jussi Jokinen, and Brooks Laich.
We could try for Brad Richards, but pretty sure he will go to the Leafs.

First order of business is to drop Patrice Cormier. I think that SOB should be banned from hockey. I don't want him representing my team or my city.

[/ quote] I don't know what to say about that... but, I guess it's up for debate. He had two or three incidents around the same time, but, other than that, he's considered as someone with strong character. I think he's taken responsibility for his actions, so I don't think we're the ones to judge. I wouldn't have given it a second thought.

I can't see Hubredreau falling to 7, unfortunately. I don't think ISS's ranking would reflect where most have him ranked.

He'd take the nickname "Stupid Sea Dog" from Nick Petersen (in my book at least). That's always what I call someone who played for them. Same with the "WTF Wolf" and "Go Jets Go Raider". I always nickname people derogatorily based on their junior team if i hate them lol

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Cormier is very high on Dudley's plans for the future. I can see him as an ideal (if he keeps developing) 3rd line center.

Reading the Thrashers section on hfboards.com, it seems the players most likely to be traded would be Oduya and Stewart, and possibly Bogosian. I would like to see if Stewart and a prospect could land us Fehr out of the Caps.
I think we try to sign Bieksa only if Bogosian is traded, but Bieksa could fetch up to $5M/yr this summer (pretty steep).
I would like to see our team sign a Manitoban or 2 this summer - maybe Asham.

Fehr might be a decent role player, and good to have a local boy. If we are going to dream about locals, how about 2013? Travis Zajac will be a UFA. Other locals that would be great to have: Glennie (Dallas) Hamonic (NYI) Not a very likely chance of getting either of them though. Regarding Bogosian, I think he only gets moved for a large return. They team does not NEED to trade him, so he should only be moved for an amazing package. But let's see what he can do in Winnipeg first.

thrashers.nhl.com/club/roster.htmOk, we have a solid defensive squad, a young forward squad with potential. However, if we want to go far, we have to trade for someone good in net. Mason is ok, but he is past his prime. the Russian goalie I haven't seen play. Would would make an excellent addition in net (please don't say Khabiboulin).

If Blake Wheeler is on our top line next season we should all break down in tears (and brace ourselves for a few thousand offsides).

He is rather inconsistent - he can shut you out one night then allow 5 the next

How about Mike Richards? Is he a UFA? He would be great!!! He is from Kenora or NW Ontario, so it is close to being hometown!

I am hesitant to give up on any players (in my mind anyway) until we've seen them play for a year - so I wouldn't want to "give up" on a player like Bogosian yet. Mainly because of my own ignorance - don't know much about him, and want to see him play and give him a chance.
