Exactly what I am afraid of. And no reassuring words from those supposedly 'in the know' on this board today.

Exactly what I am afraid of. And no reassuring words from those supposedly 'in the know' on this board today. Relax and take a deep breath. This is all part of it. Atlanta is coming to Winnipeg. We never expected the Thrasher fans to lay down without a fight. Doesn't matter though. Atlanta has known for months that the owners wanted to sell, and they haven't done anything till now? This is all part of the process. Just remember the facts.... TN has spent a boatload of money in the last 3 years preparing for this day. Have faith and get ready to buy your season tickets!

As a response to the Call for Action, the City of Atlanta was then heard to remark, "yawn".

They need volunteers to carry bags, crates, and sticks to the airport, also a request for drivers with trucks and vans to get cartons to shippers bound for the peg.

There's a rumour floating around Twitter that there is an all-employees meeting for the Atlanta Thrashers happening right now. Take it with a huge grain of salt, obviously.

The situation in Atlanta draws few comparison other than the fact they are located in southern US and established in the late 90's. If we had the same poltical will or "insanity" in the Winnipeg Jets era this could have dragged on for many more years. Having a municipal government willing to invest 100's of millions in a NHL franchise is very unique. The Atlanta Thrashers are somewhat unique too, not every owner in the league owns the arena and a second anchor tenant. All that said - still losing 20 million a year on hockey operations. Unheard of really. No need to throw Bettman under the bus, it's a complicated business - mistakes get made but at the end of the day it is how you fix them.

Also.. that's the last time I tweet anything. I have 150 followers.. how could I have known it was going to explode? I've tweeted much juicier things that never saw the light of day... like a picture of a urinal at a drinking establishment.

From what we have all witnessed, it is never too late to save a sunbelt team. That's what happens when a madman runs the league. He isn't a madman. Made some mistakes yes every business has ups and downs, tries things that don't work and have segments of their business that are very profitable and some that lose money. It's a private business and we will never understand why some things are done one way or another. There are 30 teams and ownerships groups in the league all with several different challenges. At the end of the day he will in fact go against the grain and relocate the next available team to Winnipeg, most people in the USA think we don't have the corporate support required in this city. Bettman won't make this move out of desperation, he will do it because he knows it will work.
