Not really a big fan of the un-plugged era.
I understand the idea of getting a band to take a "new angle" on a song, but more often than not, they just tone down a really good fast song.
Having said that, I really like George Harrison's accoustic version of "My Sweet Lord". But I think any tune Harrison touched just turned to gold.

I actually have some Chris Cornell (from Soundgarden) doing unplugged in Sweden a few years ago.....unbelievable! His version of Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" is excellent.
Torrents are an easy way to find these type of albums. A good one that is done in England is "Live Loung" by the BBC I think. Some very good cover songs of artists covering other artists.

As for the idea of the MTV unplugged......it can from Bon Jovi playing "wanted dead or alive" at the MTV Awards Show. The song and performance was so good that MTV thought why don't we do a full concert of artists covering their own songs.
Would love to see Jack Johnson in Winnipeg.
When did Tesla do a reunion tour of the 5 man accoustical jam tour in Winnipeg? That would have been something to see.

Hey DF, not a big fan of unplugged but I do like Tesla. Modern Day Cowboy is still regularly in my playlists, as is Signs.

Hard not to say Nirvana Unplugged. "The Man Who Sold The World" is classic.

Friday, June 15, 1990! I was in row 2 floor at 13 years old! Fell in love with Tesla that very night. I too was 2nd row center. I happened to know the bouncer up front..our tickets were in the boonies.. One of the best concerts I have ever seen.

The Nirvana unplugged is great, especially when you consider that it was virtually unrehearsed, yet the show went off almost perfectly.
As a side, I think Clapton's acoustic Layla completely neuters and ruins the song.

Tesla did a good job on that album, they started to slide on their 1994 album, "Bust A Nut". But didn't all Hair Bands? It is probably one of their easiest albums to find too. Tesla is criminally under-rated. The great Radio Controversy and Mechanical Renaissance are amazing gems.
Some other great Live albums:
Peter Frampton Comes Alive Judas Priest Unleashed in the East live AC/DC If you want blood....you got it live
If you want to listen to another good "under-rated" band take a look at Kings X and the Dogman album of 1994.

Opeth - Lamentations disk 1 (complete set of the Damnation album). Perfectly mellow. If you have not heard it, than your life is empty and incomplete. I win.
