www.henriettapost.com/feature/x1700911998/What-is-ahead-for-Amerks-club-players"...However, in the three-year working agreement that ends this season with the parent Florida Panthers, Florida has control over the hiring of veterans for Rochester.
The Florida-Rochester affiliation, as well as Phoenix-San Antonio agreement, end this season.Columbus and Springfield signed a one-year agreement for the 2010-11 campaign, but there was a change in ownership in Springfield in December, and the new owner signed a one-year extension with Columbus.
The Anaheim-Syracuse agreement has two years remaining, but reportedly has been a rocky relationship, which might bring about a change for next season.
The Buffalo Sabres have two years remaining on their current arrangement with the Portland Pirates.
Rochester club officials have said that they have talked with two of the 30 NHL teams, but they are not at liberty to say, at the present time, which two teams because the season is not over for all the teams.
All 30 NHL teams currently have one-on-one working agreements with all 30 AHL franchises ... Atlanta is rumored as being interested in putting an AHL franchise in Quebec City, and end their agreement with the Chicago Wolves. Plus Phoenix is rumored to be interested in Winnipeg (Manitoba). It all seems to hinge on what happens there first."Interesting, I hadn't heard either of the bolded parts before, may this change the calculus regarding farm teams?

It's kind of surprising, IMO, that the Wolves have lasted as long as they have in Chicago. This is the first time I've heard of this stuff, and you know what? This actually sort of makes sense. Not that the NHL would ever do anything that makes sense, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Where/how do they come up with these ridiculous articles? Well, some of the stuff is pretty speculative, but no more speculative than alot of things I've seen recently. If it is true though that the Phoenix/San Antonio agreement ends this year that might be interesting from a Moose/Vancouver standpoint if there is an out clause (or negotiated end) to that agreement. The Moose could be moved someplace and become the farm team to the new club here (and from the looks of things since the article reports ATL farm club in QC ( ? dunno about that one) it looks like whatever club they have affiliation with ends too).

The Wolves are independently owned. Besides, the Wolves are one of the AHL's model franchises and they aren't going anywhere. They have been successful on and off the ice. Until the Hawks caught fire last season, there were many nights where the Wolves had similar or better attendance than the Hawks.

It makes no sense.
If Winnipeg gets the Thrashers, they'll put their farm team somewhere much closer than Quebec City (so far places like Saskatoon and Chilliwack have been rumored).
If Quebec City gets the Thrashers...you know.

Why would anyone put an AHL team in a city that may get an NHL team quite soon?
