If it's the Atlanta Thrashers moving to Winnipeg, I wouldn't mind the name Winnipeg Falcons and using the same colours as the Thrashers (except for the ugly powder blue jerseys). They have some pretty decent colours with the Navy blue, red, yellow and white. The only thing I would change would be to have stripes around the sleeves rather than a band down the arm. I never liked a band down the arm on any jersey (like what the Bruins did with their jerseys prior to the recent change). I really disliked it when the Manitoba Moose changed to their current look with a band down the sleeve --- their previous jerseys were way better and looked more major league. Just my opinion... but I couldn't disagree more. 1) I would hate to to carry on the Thrashers legacy... 2) I think I actually dislike Falcons more so if we get Atlanta. There is still going to be an Atlanta Falcons... it somehow just seems weird. Again, I don't mean to blast you but I just don't agree at all on this (except for the arm stripes thing) Who said the Falcon has to be a bird! www.google.ca/search?q=falcon+fighter&hl=en&rlz=1T4ADFA_enCA385CA385&prmd=ivns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=sXeTTZv2IZPWtQPcuoG8BQ&ved=0CEYQsAQ&biw=1652&bih=679

Then you might as well stick with the Jets.

I was only making the opinion that if the name Winnipeg Falcons was chosen, I wouldn't mind the Atlanta Thrashers colour scheme rather than the mustard yellow jerseys of the original Winnipeg Falcons team from the 1920's.

I will always prefer Jets! Blue & Gold would be o.k. for colours! If you want to check out "brown" jerseys, check out the Caribous of Colorado. They were an NASL franchise back in the 70's. While their jerseys were quite "strange" I thought the colour combination was quite unique.

I still want it to be Jets over anything else, I really just want to be able to chant "Go Jets Go" and have it make sense for the first time in 15 years! But if it had to be another name... it woud be a nice compromise to have a Jet of some sort as a compromise (that's why I always like the Manitoba Mustangs idea discussed by people on this site, with an old bomber plane the B52 Mustang)

Naming the team "Manitoba Falcons" makes alot of sense, IMHO. I wouldn't mind Winnipeg Falcons but let's drop Manitoba. Some people are too hung up on using Manitoba because they think it will make everyone outside of Winnipeg feel that it is their team as well. Very few will cheer for them simply because they are called Manitoba instead of Winnipeg. Real hockey fans will like them regardless. I don't see the Toronto Raptors or Toronto Blue Jays feeling the need to call themselves Ontario instead of Toronto in order to make everyone in the rest of the province feel included in supporting the team. The Canucks manage to maintain a strong following throughout B.C. without calling the team B.C. Canucks. Winnipeg would be a better name as that is where the team will be based. Like others have also pointed out, we root for the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL and don't have any objections about supporting them simply because they are not called the Manitoba Wheat Kings. I agree but it sounds like Manitoba is a done deal.

Prefer Jets but Manitoba Falcons with a brown and white colour scheme sounds good to me.

Prefer Jets but Manitoba Falcons with a brown and white colour scheme sounds good to me. How about Winnipeg Falcons with Atlanta Thrashers colours (navy blue, red, yellow, white)? Brown and white sounds okay for the Hershey Bears but rather boring for Winnipeg. Let's have a colour that will sell well --- not sure brown and white would be on the top of anyone's list for merchandise.

I think the right shade of brown could look good, but you'd probably want to add some other colour and not just have it ALL brown and white. I disagree about using Atlanta's colours though. I dont' really care what colours we use (I'd like it to be Jets but colours don't really matter), but I think it would be weird to carry on the "Thrashers" tradition. Personally I wouldn't like it at all. Even naming a team the Falcons, I don't know the more I hear it the less I like the name Falcons, but especially if it's Atlanta. The tie-in to the Atlanta Falcons football club would always be there, and it just seems weird to me (though I can't even put my finger on why I don't like it exactly, I just don't)

Winnipeg Brown Bombers! I'm an outsider and if it's Phoenix I would want it to be the Winnipeg or Manitoba Jets. If it's Atlanta then I understand going in a new direction.

Naming the team "Manitoba Falcons" makes alot of sense, IMHO. When you consider the history behind the name, the fact that Falcons nest in downtown Winnipeg and even Falcon Lake, it's almost a no brainer! Check-out the wikipedia write-up on the 1920 team. Very cool! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winnipeg_FalconsThere could even be a tie in with the Human Rights Museum when you consider that this group of Icelandic players formed because teams in Winnipeg didn't want them on their teams due to race. And one more thing! If (when ) we win the Stanley Cup they would be the only team to have won an Olympic Gold Medal, the Allen Cup and the Stanley Cup! icelandic like from the country Iceland?
