There can't be too many options left for the desert dogs.
Unless MH puts up all the cash to buy the team I can imagine only 3 other options left.
1) The bonds manage to sell --- lawsuit ensues----- injunction denied
2) The NHL pulls the mythical rabbit out of it's hat and the Yotes stay. **what that could possibly entail I have no clue
3) The NHL caves and agrees to fund the team for another year.
All three of these seem to be Hail Mary long shots.
How else does the desert experiment get saved?

NHL gets approval from Board of Governors to reduce the asking price. That might be covered under #2.

I agree, but nothing would surprise me anymore. There is maybe 3 weeks left max of a window to get a team here for next year. I am so tires of this already

I think there are a few things that can happen 1) Hulsizer walks 2) Glendale goes ahead and tries to sell bonds 3) NHL pulls the plug.

NHL gets approval from Board of Governors to reduce the asking price. That might be covered under #2. They could lower the price to 100 million and it still would be too high for Matty. He just simply doesn't have that kind of money. He needs Glendale to pay him for the team end of story.

It's all up to the NHL
COG and MH won't walk away from this deal, the NHL wiil have to decide when to pull the plug.
The bonds are dead that's why MH made that pathetic attempt on the weekend. If he had a buyer he would have announced it.
BE PATIENT!!!

This whole mess is beyond stupid.
At this point I wouldn't be surprised if the NHL decided to keep the team in Glendale and fund the losses (at $40 million loss per year that's approximately $1.4 million per team) indefinitely until a buyer willing to fund losses is found ...OR... win a court battle allowing Glendale to hand over the account number of their bank to another Hulsizer type of investor......
Not to say the NHL would go to court but perhaps those Clowns referred to as the Glendale Mayor and Council would take up the challenge.
.....and the saga continues !

I can not see how they would lower the asking price. Would it not, at least from some perspective, lower the value of all of the other teams?

Including all the losses, the asking price to keep the Coyotes in Phoenix is $210 million, which is about $100 million above Forbes' valuation of the franchise. They won't decrease the askingprice, but if they did they would still be overcharging for the team, so it likely wouldn't have a negative impact on the values of the other teams.

I especially can't see them lowering the price when TN is sitting here ready to pay $180 mil or whatever. Then again, it's the NHL...

Personally, I think they are out of options. I'm convincing myself with all the reading on here that they are out of options unless they change the deal drastically. I think we are closer to an announcement then we think.

What's left? NHL announces they are looking at other options, folowed by the announcement that the team will relocated to Winnipeg for the upcoming 2011-12 season. That's what's left.

Wait. Thats all thats left is just a little more patience. If TNSE was prepared to announce that late last year they can do it this year as well. The NHL will want to lose as little money as possible (maybe TNSE as well if losses add to the price) while satisfying a judges decision in the bankruptcy ruling the NHL do everything they can to keep the team there. Wasn't there a fee imposed if they left? That's the only reason I can see the penguin trying so hard. I think we gotta wait till the end of the season. GO JETS GO!!!

I can't see them lowering the asking price either for a couple of reasons 1) Precedent: In the future anyone looking to by a distressed team off the NHL will know they can play hardball.. and drive the price down. 2) Credibility: Not very credible to threaten to move the team the whole time if you are not willing to back it up.... especially if they drop the price, close the deal and leave TN without a team - NHL risks a lot in having TN say it's no longer interested - all the the sudden it's lost it's lever... at least until Quebec comes on line 3) Franchise Value: dropping the value of the 'yotes drops the value of everyonelse.

I dont get Bettman. He's admitted time is running out. He's admitted there will be a point when they have to "explore other options" and yet he is so stubborn in his refusal to do just that. Pull the plug. Is this the same guy that was so willing to walk away last May? WTF is going on with this clown?

i think the "time is running out" was just a ploy by bettman to put more urgency on hulsizer/glendale/gwi to get a deal done
the fact is the nhl can go to true north 1 month from now and they will buy the team....the nhl will drag this out until at least the end of the regular season as long as there is even a 1% chance the deal gets done

June 30, the end of the fiscal year is my guess. By then the schedules for next year should be out but I'd expect a delay on them as long as possible to give Glendale one more chance. I agre with /\ /\
