. If you were a Coyotes player and you read the following what would you think? From the Save the Coyotes Facebook page - Information/Description
Welcome to the Official Facebook group of the Save The Coyotes Coalition! For Coyotes fans in Arizona and all over the World to Show their Support for our Phoenix Coyotes now and in the Future!! No doubt the team is having issues, but that is largely due to mismanagement and a bad on ice product the past 7 years. NOT the Physical location of the team... www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=77971569444&v=wall OUCH..........the team is on a tear, beating Vancouver tonight and the FB site says they have a bad product on the ice?....

The team did very respectable last season and how do the people of Glendale respond??
They don't!! Game after game of half empty arenas... and even with the NHL padded attendance numbers they are still the second worse in the league. The lack of fans and the location of the team is EXACTLY why this team is relocating.

They keep saying the team isn't winning enough and that's why not enough people show up.

It seems for fans in the south (where I live) that they equate winning with winning championships. If you listen to fans in struggling markets the excuses are always the same
'We haven't had a winner for the fans to get behind" "We've had poor ownership/management and thats why no one comes out" "That one year we made the playoffs we sold out all our games"
The problem is winning isn't a business plan. Counting on the team winning the Cup every season isn't the way to market the tea. They like to point to Dallas (who until this season had great support - Dallas economy is in shambles). They say Dallas won the cup and everyone supports them. But thats not how Dallas got support for the team. When the team moved down here the first thing they did was started to build hockey inks and get people involved. The year the Stars came into town there was 1 rink and 85 kids enrolled in hockey. Now there is a dozen rinks and over 12000 kids registered for minor hockey. Dallas alone has over 100 high school hockey teams (hockey isn't even an officially sanctioned high school sport in Texas).
Dallas and San Jose have success because they built up the grass roots in the area. They helped educate and inform the fans. The players in Dallas are in the community all the time. I went to a opening of a dog park and Mike Modano was there. The players are visible and work very hard to grow the game.
Phoenix and other struggling markets have failed to grow the game at the youth level. They build these fancy arenas with restaurants, bars, luxury boxes and anything else you can think of yet they ignore the grass roots. I listend to that horrible radio station in Glendale yesterday and they had the Yote's VP of marketing on. He admitted that he didn't know much about hockey. How can you promote a game you don't even understand?

Why don't they just admit that there are not enough fans! They are looking to blame everyone but themselves. Mismanagement? This might be the best run hockey ops organization in the entire league the last 3 seasons! And what the players have done on the ice to play through all this crap is amazing!
Yotes fans, look in the mirror! There are not enough of you, and that is the reason this team is leaving!!!!

Ok so, they have their best season ever this year, and they are going to lose the most money ever with a low payroll.
4th in the Confrence= 40 million + in loses? Something doesnt add up here.

But what's even more startling is that, beside some guy from Australia posting something there yesterday, the last post was on March 9, another on March 8, the next one was on November 3, 2010, then way back on June 11, 2010..... Yup, there's a lot of action over at the Save the Coyotes Facebook Page....appears they don't give a rat's Go Jets Go about saving the team !

I'm not saying that Dallas has a terrible fanbase or anything, but they have had among the cheapest tickets in the League for years, around what the Coyotes charge. I mean, their average ticket price for this year is $30 I think.
I'm not making excuses, but if the Devils charged those prices then we could probably be getting 16-17K per game too.

The problem with Dallas was the owner Hicks got into trouble with the Texas Rangers - The bank called in the note and he wasn't able to pay and now he's having to sell off assets. The Stars themselves are doing fine. Hicks wants way too much for the Stars since it also comes with a share of the AAC thats why the sale is taking so long.

It just goes to show you that even these so-called fans are interested in their team because they are under the mistaken impression the team is struggling on the ice right now...it's laughable.

I remember hearing Scruggs say that. Apparently Hulsizer is the guy to both manage the team better and somehow squeeze more out of the players, seeing as they're doing so bad in the standings....

True fans aren't fickle and hop off the band wagon if the team loses otherwise half the teams would be in financial trouble....hang on.... they are!!!! BRING THEM HOME ALREADY!!!!!

I'd probably be in the minority but I'd be relieved it might be leaving Phoenix and going to a place that will love the team no matter what! LOVE IT!
