Would it be possible that Winnipeg would hold and All-Star game in the near future?

I would think we would be almost guaranteed to get one within 10 years.
More importantly, for either the last season at Canad Inns Stadium or the first year of our new stadium, I'm sure we would get a heritage classic outdoor game, which would be just awesome.
(I'm torn though as to which I'd prefer, one last romp in the old barn right by where the old arena site is, or to showcase the new stadium).

Im not sure about an outdoor game. Man, our weather is poor for that. But I guess the new Stadium design would make it more doable. Can you imagine 40,000+ at the U of M Stadium? Wow, that would be cool.

I don't know if Bettman would be an all-star weekend festivities event in Winnipeg in February ... but you never know!

I'm not really big on Heritage Classics....freezing weather, lousy sightlines... but for some reason people tend to get excited about them, so I say bring them on.
It should definitely be at the new stadium, though. The old one has very few places to warm up, and the facilities (dressing rooms, washrooms, etc.) are lousy. The new one can't get built fast enough!

The new one can't get built fast enough! I think just cuz it's a neat thing that happens at most once a decade, and more like once every few decades for each NHL team. Plus, you get a huge crowd that's usually triple the cities arena, which makes for an awesome party and an awesome profit for the host team! But I agree it would probably be in the new stadium... almost all reasonable arguements would support that I just see this as one last chance to play on maroons road!

No. Heritage classic, yes. There is a decent number of hof that have played in a jetss jersey along with well known players also. I'm gonna hijack the thread and list the players I'd like to see play in the oldtimers game:
Hawerchuk Steen Selanne Housley Numminen Olcyk Tkachuk Domi King Carlyle Boschman Ellet Essenza

Winnipeg should get the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. They were selected to host the entry draft during their last season, but the draft was moved, because of uncertainty of their franchise.

Guys, when we come back we're at the end of the list for all these things.
An All Star game in particular is unlikely. February is not Winnipeg's best time to shine.
A Draft is possible at some point, as is a Heritage Classic. BUt all the other Canadian franchise want to hold one as well.

I think I agree that we would be near the bottom of the list for most of those things, except for the heritage game. I think having a new stadium going up will be a big reason to have one - to me it just seems like a no-brainer. (Also I don't agree that the fact that it's in February should hurt Winnipegs chances of an all star game, but I do agree we wouldn't get it any time soon)

according to DF we are owed MAJOR suck up points, I'd think we'd be in for at least the draft and an all star game.

NHL will probably tell us we should be thankful just to be back in the league. ASG is doubtful at best...Heritage Classic is probably the only given.
