Keep with the bird theme. Call 'em the Warhawks and call it a day.
If there's a naming contest, that's my entry. Winnipeg Warhawks has a cool ring to it

Part of me wonders if this new owner BS is all drummed up by the NHL to delay the AS from selling. Why? Because the Phoenix situation is on the verge of crumbling and GB needs us more. For a while now, we've been led to believe that the Atlanta to Winnipeg deal has been in place for some time just waiting for the Phoenix situation to be resolved. Why is it then that the owner has suddenly been talking publicly about new partners or a new ownership group being needed to keep the team in Atlanta? If there was a deal in place with TN, why not keep it quiet and let the deal be completed to move the team to Winnipeg? Regardless of what happens in Phoenix, why not wait on making any public statements? The more the issue (both Phoenix and Atlanta) is in the public eye, the more difficult it makes it for Winnipeg to get either team. A few reasons. One, as Yukon mentioned, you can't just pull the rug out from a city without so much as warning them a few months ahead that it's in dire straights. Secondly, Phoenix is no where near finished, and GB has all but said if that deal fails, he has an agreement in principle with TNSE. Thus, the AS is getting frustrated. They want to cut their losses and sell already, but they can't. They are likely now fretting that if Phoenix falls apart, they are right back at square one. If square one meant losing $20 million a year, wouldn't you go public with your quest for new owners?

The Keep the Thrashers folks have made a new video - www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldsg14vsGNcAs a fan who has been through this I feel for them as someone who works in film/video I'm embarrassed for them. Seriously a video with the quality of a high school english project is not going to entice anyone. If it wasn't against my interests I'd offer my services. Funniest piece of crap I have ever seen...opinions and garbage...no numbers as usual because that little guy has no clue what the numbers mean. Argues about reputation of losing the team yet he isn't putting up millions in losses nor is he willing to be a taxpayer that absorbs the losses if the were to be guaranteed by government...He says " The Winnipeg Thrashers just doesn't sound right"...thanks for the tip you pathetic wimp.... J.. E.. T.. S.. JETS JETS JETS!!!!!

Maybe some in this group of Thrashers fans do mirror the intellectual capabilites of Coyotes fans. I thought for the most part Thrasher fans were pretty knowledgable. I guess there is a quack in every basket. Winnipeg hockey fans want this rally to be as big of a flop as possible. Unless you guys don't want to crack triple digits, don't hold this thing right in the middle of rush hour.
Actually, clicking through the names, some of those attendees are Winnipeg trolls anyway, who've only recently acquired electricity in their state of Nova Scotia and sort of hope they'll actually get an NFL team as a part of the deal.

"Sports Capital of the World" Get real, you big dufus ! If Spirit of Atlanta can't make a go of it and they control all of the revenue streams, how can a new/local Thrasher ownership group who would have to pay rent to Spirit of Atlanta and not have control of all revenues be expected to do better ? Absolutely economic insanity ! You already lost one NHL franchise. 'Nuff said. Personally, if I had my druthers, I still would prefer getting the Coyotes (even if old sentimental reasons are a big factor). By the way, when are the danged bonds being issued/sold ? End of Rant ! ;D

Is there anything easier than getting people to click their mouse to show support for a cause? I didn't think so, so I took a look around Facebook and found these pages. At their time of crisis this is the concern? Pathetic!! I need to go watch the clip of the Jets rally from 15 years ago again.
