Just a thought and was thinking about this when I went to a Moose game with my son back in November.
The current scoreboard, while in 2004 was great, is in need of an upgrade.
In comparison to other scoreboards in the NHL, this one is lacking. I like the one that the Staples Center has -- round with the power bars on top and bottom of the board. Looks very cool.
Not sure whether there is anything planned for a scoreboard upgrade but it would definitely be good to see one.

Even in 2004 when the MTSC opened I was a bit disappointed by the scoreboard. It would have been balls-out rockin' in 1996, but for 2004 it was a bit underwhelming. Something bigger, with more screens and rings (and in HD) would be a must for the NHL.

NewJets and Shtinky I couldn't disagree more. The only thing this scoreboard needs is two left hands clapping circa 1996 Winnipeg Arena.... I think a downgrade is in order.
Go Jets Go

I guess sarcasm can't be understood in my writings through a computer screen. At my request I also hope they replace all computerized cash registers with an abacus or solar powered calculator.... In the words of Carey Price... "chill out, it's preseason"

Well guys, I can tell you that there (were) are plans for an HD Upgrade however, it's not cheap, and not exactly something that can be done overnight. Currently as it sits: The MTSC is NOT set up for HD. This could cost at least a Million to convert.
We are just waiting for the NHL's return to do such upgrades but, I am 100% confident; the upgrades will be done when a Franchise returns.

on a side note it would be nice that all arenas like the MTSC could fit the images properly on the LED ring, most times the images are bigger than the ring allows to fit in the screen and it looks Go Jets Go.

Speaking of score boards, wasn't the original scoreboard in the Winnipeg Arena sold to Hamilton in 1997 and put in Copps Collisium? Maybe this is an urban legend.

I heard something like that, I interpreted, Hamilton bought our scoreboard when they built Copps (mid 80's?) and we got a new one.

I agree that MTS will need an up-grade with the building and for sure a new scoreboard. MTS will be small for NHL standards, but will be cozy and full of fans for a return of the Jets good luck!!!

Awww Hendrix you beat me to it! Sorry, but in all seriousness, I think and upgrade to the scoreboard is a great idea. The world see's it everytime the Jets play. Its a statement maker, just look at Cowboy Stadium.

It was sent over to Hamilton in the mid-80s when we got the one capable of displaying graphics in 1985 or so. Some of those old animations were classic...they are synonymous with the NHL in Winnipeg! The two left hands clapping out of time with whatever song is playing is EPIC!!!! They MUST be recreated. The fan reaction will be over the top

X2 Not only does he not support the ROTJ ( Doesn't believe it will ever happen & is really one of the biggest Nay-Sayers I've ever met ), he is a guy that really just likes to hear himself talk WAY too much!
