On the way home tonight, Munzie said that the crowd in Abbotsford is always about 75% Moose Fans, 25% Heat fans when playing in the Heat's Home building.
The way I see it; the AHL could be making a potential move and perhaps instead of the Moose going to Phoenix or Atlanta or whomever wants them....Perhaps the Moose COULD end up in Abbotsford with the "Heat" moving to another city.
Any thoughts on this?

Any thoughts on this? Just speculating but the reason that there is 75% Moose fans in Abbotsford is the fact that the Moose are the farm team of Vancouver and as such would draw more fans. Having said that, the Moose could still move to Abbotsford and remain affiliated with the Canucks with the Heat moving elsewhere (Victoria, Saskatoon). Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that an NHL owner could not own an AHL team, which would mean that the Moose would be sold and relocated rather than just move. I have really never bought into the speculation about Chipman/Thomson buying jobing.com arena and the Moose going there. I am sure that TN does have a plan for the Moose when the NHL bell begins to ring. Just not sure what it is.

The Heat don't draw fans because they're the Calgary Flames' affiliate, and they're in Canuck-crazy British Columbia. I think it's a good idea for teams to have their farm teams close to the parent club's location, for example, the Devils have their ECHL affiliate in Trenton, even though this hasn't helped them draw fans, as this year they average about 2,000 per game, dead last in the League, but it's still a smart idea. Part of this may be because Trenton is close to Philly.
I should come down there to see a game or else the team might leave soon....

I extremely doubt Chipman or Thomson gave two thoughts about purchasing the Jobing.com arena in Glendale, the market is just too bad for them to invest money into it. They know where the team is going if Winnipeg gets the NHL, so the team will be in very good hands. The question about a owner owning both a AHL and NHL team is one i'd love to know also. But the moose if sold will get afew million if purchased and run properly. The moose would be interesting competition for the Canucks tho but i wonder what the impact of it would be.

I mentioned the Moose to Abbotsford a few weeks ago. A scenario that may work:
Moose to Abbotsforsd Heat to Glendale (dailydirect flights) Winnipeg/Manitoba NHL's AHL affiliate to Thunderbay Glendale probably would not support AHL, so the Heat possibly to Saskatchewan? Victoria is anouther city that I've heard is interested in AHL.

Nearly everyone out there are Canucks fans, so it would make sense to put the Moose there when the NHL returns to the Peg city.

I'm guessing Victoria is where the Moose will end up. The group there is waiting to decide between the WHL and ECHL and I think the wait is caused by the delay in getting an NHL team in Winnipeg, and hence, a move of the Canucks affiliate.

Would there be any chance on TNSE being able to keep the Moose as the Winnipeg farm club?

Being in Calgary, it made no sense to me to put the Flames AHL team in the heart if Canucks territory.
Thats why I can't wait to cheer for an NHL team in Winnipeg again.

Moose to Abbbotsford makes perfect sense.
It's weird that Canucks fans will drive an hour to Abbotsford to watch their prospects play but fans in Toronto wouldn't take the streetcar like 3 km to watch the Marlies. Toronto sports "fans" are Go Jets Go.

Wouldn't it just be easier to change affiliations rather than move franchises?

Wasn't thinking same city when I wrote that. Was wondering if TNSE could change the Moose affiliation as the farm team for the Canucks to the farm team for their new Winnipeg NHL club? Who better to groom/manage your own future talent than you.

Moose to Fargo would be best.

I agree with mcguire4. Wonder if the Fargo Dome can accommodate hockey?

Any thoughts on this? i have always thought that the Canucks AHL affiliate was destined to play out of Victoria...at least since Victoria built the 7,500 Save-on-Foods Centre which opened 5 years ago...the city has a metro population of just under 400,000 and a state of the art AHL quality arena....i can see them trading ECHL for AHL in a heart beat...in any case, it would make sense to have TWO AHL teams in the area for travel purposes...the Flames and Canucks are the closest...

Victoria has had an ECHL franchise for about 5 years...they also have Junior hockey at a very high level: i.e., BCHL Victoria Grizzlies...

Fargo has built this rink. Scheels Arena (formally called The Urban Plains Center, or UPC) is a multi-purpose venue located in Fargo, North Dakota. It is part of the Sanford Health Athletic Park which contains the arena with a YMCA under construction and plans to add four additional ice sheets. It was constructed and opened in 2008 and was renamed in 2010. The arena seats up to 6,000 for concerts and over 5,000 for ice hockey and features 40 suites and 300 club seats. It features an Olympic-sized ice sheet and one of a handful of arenas with rounded corner glass sheets. [1] The main tenant of the center is the United States Hockey League team the Fargo Force. Other Scheels Arena events include Fargo-Moorhead high school hockey, the 2009 IIHF World U18 Championship hockey tournament, Max fights, rodeos and concerts
