I hope they stay in Buffalo...
Their attendance dropped a little bit in the past two years but they're still over 95% capacity

Who knows, he may try? The only way he has a remote chance of success is to place a bid to purchase the team without attempting to relocate it. His chances of pulling it off is not good, given his track record with the NHL's BOG.

I bet if Balsillie buys the Sabres he'll move the team (Or at least try to move the team) after their first money-losing season, even if it's only a few million dollars. Nevertheless, he doesn't stand much of a chance with the Sabres.

He can't move the team. But it might be the closest he gets to owning a team in his market area.
The BOG may not allow him though as there would be a trust factor. Five years down the road, he might ask to relocate, the NHL will say no and what stops JB from taking the Sabres into Bankruptcy?
Uphill battle for him, for sure. But he'd be a tremendous owner.

I think there is little to no chance of JB taking over the Sabres but if he did theres not way he could move them but maybe he would try hosting games in Hamilton.

Sounds like a Pennsylvania billionaire named Terrence Pagula is interested in the Sabres. The article says that Golisano, who owns the Sabres, wants more than $150 million, which is less than Hulsizer is supposedly willing to pay for the Coyotes. At that rate the Sabres should be worth more than $200 million. But an investment banker who knows the NHL market said that $150-million is “a fair price” for the Sabres. The banker, who requested anonymity because of his ongoing business with NHL teams, also scoffed at the sale price of the Coyotes and pointed out they have yet to be officially sold. www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/report-pennsylvania-billionaire-interested-in-buying-sabres/article1818880/

The only reason that will be the selling price for the Coyotes is because it has been artificially valued at $170 Million by the NHL purchasing it for $140 M and covering losses for a year. They simply will refuse to sell the team for less than they have put into it, but no one should be confused into thinking the Coyotes are worrth $170 Million... or $170 for that matter...

hearing this news, MH must be wondering why he is hitching on to the coyotes when other, more stable franchises are available.

Actually I had crunched the dollars and cents on what the Yotes are worth. It came out to $457.57. (Why you may ask) well I figure that is the amount of gas needed to fly from Phoenix to Winnipeg, who knows the 747 still may have some gas left over.

Where are you buying Jet-A fuel @ that price?

lol - I was researching Cuba, cause we are headed there and read something on fuel, and approx how much it takes to fill up. I took that price and applied it to the above. I wanted to sound serious, hence "Actually I crunched the numbers" but of course I was just being funny. 747, uses A or -A, from what I understand. Maybe the price is wrong, but I read it takes around 500 bucks to fill the plane. Unless I read something else... wpg mike do you know?

A 747 goobles up the fuel at a rate of (depending on the model 747-300/747-400) lets average it out at: 23,700 lbs/hr. 1 gallon of Jet-A weighs lets say ohhh ,8.345 lbs 1 gallon of Jet-A costs 4.75 a gallon (23,700/8.345=8520.07) 8520.07x4.75=$40,470.00. per hour
Winnipeg to Phoenix is a 3 hour flight
$40,470x3=121,410
So it would cost $121,410
Might be able to re-coup some of the fuel expense, by reselling some duty free stuff in Wpg!
Hope my math is right. If COG was figuring this out it would have cost $235,876,524.00

I think Balsillie burned a lot of bridges with the NHL BoG.
I don't think he'll get a team any time soon.

Whoops my math is flawed!(23,700/8.345=2,840) 2,840x4.75=13,490.11per hour 13,490.11x3=40,470.34
So it would only cost $40,470.34 not $121,410.00 as I originally quoted!

Ahh So I was ridiculously wrong! LMAO - well ok ... they should sell the team for 20,000 thousand, as we probably only want half the players anyway! lol the rest can drive! Thanks MIKE

Haha when I saw the 121 figure I Go Jets Go my pants thinking theres no way thats right. Even if you think about it though 40,000 of fuel for 3 hours of flying. Thats crazy, how many passengers can a 747 hold anyway?
