How would they set this up. Im sure for all of manitoba they could just have Rogers West (been doing my research) cover future NHLwinnipeg games but i figure they could launch their own channel or set up a Sportsnet Central replacing Ontario and have sportsnet central play winnipeg games in manitoba and sportsnet one would play leafs games. in Ontario Central would play leafs games and Sportsnet one could play winnipeg games (as to be able to hit thunderbay and western ontario. Interesting to see how Thomson/ chipman set this up id hate to see u guys have to pay perview because of a stupid set up. Thomson is a media giant anyway so dont be surprised to see a new channel spur up out of the dust.

I guess Sportsnet could set up another channel to cover the central region. Although it would probably be overkill.
I could just see them keeping things as they are and just blackout Flames and Oilers games to broadcast Jets games.
Right now we don't get Leafs or Sens on Sportsnet West. It's a pretty even split between Oilers and Flames games.
I'm sure we'd see close to 60 games broadcast on either Sportsnet in addition to TSN and CBC.
It's also possible that somebody else bids for the Jets broadcasts but I highly doubt it.

My idea for central allows you guys to get thunderbay as well. 60 games is not enough to me. Oilers and flames now get all games because of sportsnet one in addition to games you should get the following: Post game pre game coverage, weekly if not daily show on the teams progress, I actually support the usa tv deal. Versus is a good channel and its now available everywhere. Versus is sports all day no matter how obscure. ESPN is gossip hour But yea 82 games should be available to watch for you guys. with the majority on your cable provider and the rest on TSN CBC

Honestly I mean ...MTS would probly wanna get in on it...you could have an MTS channel dedicated to the Jets...you could even do it like the show that was on CKND "This week with the Jets" You could have interviews....old games....behind the scenes ...heck you could maybe even get Kris King back to host maybe...lol You could pay for a package of games...and the profit could go to the Jets...heck ...I mean you could show the away games that normally you wouldn't get to see on a CBC or a TSN or Sportsnet...
a Jets channel would be amazing ...you could do so many things...you could contract out even ...and have like ...History of Hockey....and some documentaries...HECK...even Death by Popcorn...you can do a whole lot...and I think it would be a profitable thing to do

Hopefully little or nothing would be on Sportsnet One / MTS TV as not even the whole province can subscribe to those, let alone a region including Saskatchewan and Thunder Bay.

I wonder if theres a clause in the naming rights to the rink for MTS.TN could have one saying if a NHL team moves in,we have the right to reopen neg with anyone to get a fair market value or stick with them.
So its possible MTS could not even be in the deal @ all for showing games.

I don't see sportsnet central working because of lack of population and the amount of teams there are in this region region. Remember the NHL and everyone else says we are not a money making television market. Leafs tv is a huge failure because there is only so many games they can show to captivate the fans which the rest of the air time is dead air and replays which hockeycentral, tsn, and sportsnet does enough sports broadcasting to satisfy the hard core fan and this toronto of all places where the Maples is church to them. I however wonder if we will ever get a special pay-per-view package for home and away games on Centre Ice? I would assume we would get those luxuries, right? But perhaps there will be a split on sportsnet west feeds with the new sportsnet 2 that is rumored to happen.

^^Exactly, there's not enough programing to justify a Jets Channel.

unless we form a partnership with the Minnesota Wild but then again what will the channel play in the summer to keep the ratings up.

There is surely a clause in the naming rights deal. But I would very much suspect that MTS will continue to have a very strong relationship with True North when the NHL returns.
I agree that blacking out Oilers/Flames games for Jets makes sense. Any games not covered could be done through Pay Per View which could generate income for the team. In fact, a high quality in house production that includes pre-game, game, post game and exclusive content would be great.
Maybe an On-Demand channel that provides extra content (historic games, team news shows, current games after they air live etc).

MTS/SHAW Whoever, for the family that can't afford season ticket Hockey on demand I think it would go over big.
