Only time will tell! Anyways I do have relatives who live in Tampa and everyone in town, according to them, knows they got a hockey team and were talking about them when they had their 2004 Cup Run! They should be Florida's sole team and just have the Panthers move out! But that doesn't mean I'll be cheering for them in any form or fashion when they play because they're a southern, sunbelt team!

I don't understand how they can make it work for the Lightning when Tampa won't even support the Rays during their run for the playoffs.

The reason Tampa didn't support the Rays is because other than the Oakland Coliseum, Tropicana Field is the worst field in baseball. It is the last non retractable dome left plus it is poorly located away from the majority of the population.

Why is this team even under "teams in trouble?" They have a solid base (see attendance #s since 2004 Cup win), they have a legit base (I've been there and they play the games in sports bars around Tampa), they have billboards with "The Stanley Cup: Bring it back" around town and the team has been winning since they got Jeff Vinik as owner.
Face it, this team is over and not moving. Same with the Hurricanes. Tampa is not part of the "Southern problem".

They are Eliminating two entire sections (323 and 324, totaling 574 seats) for the construction of a bar and stage area that will be home to the new pipe organ. The St Pete Times Forum seated 19,758 last year for hockey. That is huge. My guess is that this is also to decrease supply to increase demand a bit.

Good to hear! Thanks for that info! Only confirms why I think Tampa should be the ONLY FL team!

I don't know if Tampa should stay. They only average about 13K per game, they still lost a lot of money this year even though they made a deep playoff run, and they're selling season tickets 10-20 rows back in the Lower Level for only $30.

Tampa has too big an arena for their market. Making it smaller with more revenue opportunities is smart.

Guys, Tampa Bay isn't going to move, neither will Nashville or Carolina for that matter. The only teams that have a realistic shot at moving are Phoenix, Florida, and depending on how they do, Columbus.

I'm still hoping Columbus gets better and at least attains a Nashville-type record in the near future! It would be a WASTE to see them leave one of the better areas for hockey in the US of A! ;D

Don't forget the New York Islanders. If the arena votes fails August 1st i bet they leave. I think Columbus will in time work out a new lease for the arena and they will stay.
