Good start by those blue bombers last night. I like that goat legged fellow playing quarterback and nice to see them bound back after that disasterous start and not fold like a greasy faced teenager working at the Gap

IM LOVING THAT THE CFL IS ON NFL NETWORK ONCE A WEEK!
Im starved for football and this is a great move for the CFL. NFL fans were happy to watch hit because its way better than AFL. good to watch since my team doesnt start for a long time. I am officially a blue bombers fan lol (why not right). Honestly it was very well received in the states and has the potential to be aired every week in the USA for a long time. NFL network likes it because if stars do very well there and get offered a big contract an are already hyped coming into the league. Canada produces good players (My patriots own Nick Kazcur).
CFL should expand to 2 more teams and make it an even 10 with a team in Ottawa and the Atlantic Region. Another possibility could be QC. 2 more teams would help the bombers so they could move to the western division.
so far liking me some cfl. Football is football and football is awesome when this football nut is starved for football

Just remember that games such as the Montreal-Sask aren't that common. It's potentially a good year to become a Bomber fan. The last couple of seasons have been dreadful.

Some good players in the CFL and it is essential that it exists. I actually like the import limit to make it more canadian. Lots of really good low 1a, and 1aa and 2 players need a place to go because they get overlooked. The cfl is a great place for that

Would have been a blow out if the special teams didn't have the mishaps. Hopefully that will get corrected though. Great game for the Blue, Pierce had a solid first game got the O rolling, and the defense was great.

The cfl is a great place for that I didn't jump into the debate people were having earlier because I didn't have the energy to debate it with someone that hasn't watched the CFL much. I am glad you enjoyed it and I too think it's great to have the games on the NFL Network. The bottom line is it's 2 different games. The players in the CFL tend to be smaller and that's just a broad statement but in general that's true. We tend to not get the really big receivers because they usually stick with the NFL. I love both leagues and take them for what they are. The NFL is very technical and the coaching is at a completely different level but that's more due to the budget differences. The CFL is more of a passing league but the really good teams have had very strong running games. It's football, you still have to have that blend to stay not as predictable. There is one thing that the CFL game has over the NFL and that's the amount of last minute comebacks or even just the ability to be able to comeback in the last 2 minutes. I don't know what the biggest comeback is but I've seen the Bombers come back being 3 touchdowns behind after most people left the stadium. I love that. The NFL is an awesome game but it kinda bugs me that the teams can run the clock out with close to 2 minutes left. That part doesn't make much sense to me. The Bomber game was really enjoyable to watch. It was nice seeing Kevin Glenn play a poor game as he did so many times in Winnipeg. I use to stand up for him but he gagged too many times.

it also nice to have qb for first time time in like ten years It was really weird watching a Bomber game and actually having optimism that our QB will complete a pass and put together a drive resulting in a touchdown.

I've had Blue Bomber Season tickets for 7 years now.... And I just wanted to point out that I am extremely dissappointed with the lack of tickets sales going into the 3rd home game. Especially after this 'hooplah' of Winnipeg has great fan support... we'll support an NHL team... We'll save our money and buy tickets.
Now, I've fought and fought all the people who we've dubbed as "naysayers" saying that Winnipeg is ready.... but guys... lets show it... If people go this crazy about the Riders in Saskatchewan, and they sell out the Labour Day Classic in 16 minutes... maybe Regina/Saskatoon is the right place for an NHL team. Any idea how much it hurts to say that?
These people put their money where their mouth is... and I am calling out all winnipegger sports fans to do the same... If you cant buy a few $10 tickets to the North End Zone a few times a year.... then don't get on board with the $70+ NHL tickets...
Brutal... come on Winnipeg. 29,905 or bust!!!

I was at the game last Friday. The Bombers looked great, it finally appeared that the team was playing as a unit (last year, the team was definitely broken w/ a useless quarterback).
tsmof: I agree, the stadium should be full every game. I think there is still some apathy against the team from what happened last year, but whats done is done. The team has good talent this year and a sound QB, they should make some noise this year.
I lived in Regina for the past 5 years, and being a football fan I went to every roughrider game that I could go to. The fan response is nuts. They installed an extra 2,000 temporary seats at the end of the 2007 season to meet ticket demand...and those seats remain to this day. It is very hard to get tickets to any game (let alone labour day) & the city of Regina essentially stops when the football game is on. That's almost 31,000 people coming from all corners of the province to watch the football game.
Winnipeg football fans are awesome too, and there are a lot of them... I just wish they would come to the stadium to fill the place up!

blah blah blah Riders fan this, blah blah blah blah Riders fans that...They're no different than any other fan base. When the Riders go back to being perennial losers you'll see more ship jumping than when the Titanic sank.
Back in the 80's and 90's when they sucked hard, there were more crickets in Archaic stadium than people. Heck they had to sell company "shares" just to stay out of bankruptcy like every other CFL team, where was Rider nation than?
About people not buying tickets, well, that's how it goes in sports market. When the team is doing good, tickets sell, when they haven't won jack sh*t in 20 years people, tickets don't sell. What surprises me though, is that there were more tickets sold for the pre-season game than the home opener...whats up with that Winnipeg?

Good attitude bruinsfan. Football is football and it is great to like both the CFL and NFL. They are both good games and the differences actually make each more interesting. I think the CFL should move up its season to the start of June to have less overlap with the NFL and also to move the playoff games into October so it wouldn't be too cold.
Does anyone know what the ticket sales are at for Friday's game?
razorsedge, i think the high attendance for the pre-season game is due to the fact that season ticket holders get an extra ticket or something for the preseason game.

Also, I was thinking maybe the non sellout for the opening game could have been from people making it an extra long weekend and heading the cabin or camping. Ourbombers.ca usually has a thread about ticket sales for upcoming games.
