Do you think TNSE should retain the name Winnipeg Jets once an NHL team returns to Winnipeg?

I am for the name Jets, esp if it was Phoenix that moved. But if they do pick a different, fresh new one, I can understand that. The only thing I wouldn't want would be *insert team here* moves to Winnipeg and we kept that name (Thrashers, Coyotes, etc). Which I highly doubt would happen anyway. That, or a stupid new name just for the sake of new.
Jets is my first choice, but a different name may not be bad if thats they direction they decide to go.

I'm thinking this is either the 100th will the team be called the jets thread I've seen but I guess with all the new members theres no harm in a new one. I voted yes but I wouldnt be surprised if they introduced a new logo or jersey design to help move merchandise.

I have thought about this for a few years now and keep coming to the conclusion that it has to be JETS. I just love the name and it flows well..... Winnipeg Jets.... Many on here mention Victorias and I do understand the history with that name but geez it just doesn't roll off the tongue that easily.
Obviously I would live with any name because the real important thing in all this is having a team in the NHL. ;D

We've had a poll on the Manitoba Mythbusters site for a while now (in its third incarnation, since I had to rebuild the site then find a "polls" plugin that worked). I've compiled the results as they currently stand. I've also included the comments that were added...

If and when the NHL returns to Winnipeg, what name should the team be given?

My hope is that whatever team comes here, that they are called the Winnipeg Jets.
That includes any team other than Phoenix as well.

Coyotes = Jets
Other = ??
Falcons are okay - as we have endangered peregrine falcons here.
Other things that are Manitoban... The provincial bird of Manitoba is the Great Gray Owl - ah, no. Provincial flower - Prairie Crocus. Provinical tree - white spruce. Symbol of Manitoba - Bison and Polar Bears.
'Jets' looking better and better.

If it's Coyotes it'd have to be Jets, it'd be silly any other way.

No, that just looks so minor league-ish and considering it's the same team it looks awful.

Much better, signifies the NHL's stupid mistake and our never ending hope.
If it's the Thrashers or another team I think there might be grounds to change the name, I think it'd have to go to public opinion.

With the good feelings around the Blue Bombers this year it makes sense to keep the airplane theme and stick with the Jets...it is so logical

As much as The Jets name holds much legacy.... Minnesota was able to embrace the wild... I'll take whatever has an NHL affiliation with it.... as long as its not "The Unicorns" or "Pink Jackets"

I've been pushing the name Manitoba Golden-Jets on here a bit. what does everyone think? i feel that its a good combination of new and old. its a connection with Bobby Hull, the golden boy on the ledge, and the old Jets name. Like the Blue Bombers most of the time people drop the blue part of the name so the same can happen with the Golden Jets. the team could have new colours as well. maybe Blue and gold!!!

3) take a look at google's suggestions for your search in the box below...
i get the following in this order:
Winnipeg Jets
Winnipeg Free Press
Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Winnipeg Weather...
etc.
the goodwill in the Winnipeg Jets name can not be underestimated...
