He wasnt the coach... Was the GM and put the team together Who couldn't of picked that team. Not brain surgery if Bob Mackenzie and others can do it on TSN. There was not one player on the team that any one could say at the beginning of the tournament, "why did Gretzky pick him"... then at the end of the tournament say "brilliant move by Gretzky to select him to team Canada".

Uh... anyway, about Selanne. Don't think it will happen. Bigger name NHL players rarely do conditioning stints in the AHL for fear of a new game-related injury just making things worse.

I pray that Selanne breaks the 600 goal mark this year.

I'd be there crying... it was bad enough I had Canucks vs Ducks tickets and he was injured...although I always get to gloat about him being a Canuck killer as he absolutely lights up van city.
Like mentioned above...just don't think a player of his age and veteran status would go for it. He's only been out for what 2 or 3 weeks now...better question is anyone know his return status?

better question is anyone know his return status? I think they are thinking of a middle to late Jan return date. While the idea that it would be cool for him to be here,my last memory of him in a Moose uni is not one I would want to remember. And as much as I will always think of him as a Jet,he will be forever know as a Duck I believe. And if he did a cond stint in the minors,no question it would be in the Duck system so they could have total control over his return with the Parent clubs doctors, and their minor club fans would deserve seeing him play more then us.And Imagine if he got injured in a Moose uni, that wouldnt go over to well. But still cool to dream of him playing in the Peg.

I looked into the Ducks AHL affiliation..they used to be with the Iowa Chops but they folded. The Ducks have their minor leaguers split between three teams including the Moose, I'm not holding my breath that it will happen. And lets be honest if we can get a team in the next two years hopefully it will convince teemu to make a comeback for another year....and in turn forever be remembered as a Jet

It is realistic to a point but I guess it all comes down to Selanne wanting to come here.

Also, Sundin did a conditioning stint with the Moose last year while the Moose were on the road.

My mistake,I thought this year every team had their own AHL team, not like I pay allot of attention to the AHL anyways, but looks like the Chops owners ran into some legal problems or something,so the Ducks ended their affiliation with the team.
In that case they could do it I guess, but I think they would not look at a cond stint for a broken hand,if he couldnt skate it may be a diff story.

The Iowa Chops were suspended from the league for the entire 2009-2010 Season because their owners used the team as collateral in a separate Financial Transaction. A HUGE No-No....

A conditioning stint for a broken hand is feasible considering how long hes been out.

Doesnt look like this is going to happen, as I just read that he plans on returing next week with the Ducks.
